Higginbothan - In this city, on Monday, Oct. 22, 1894, John Henry, son of Marcus and Elizabeth A. Higginbothan, aged 14 days.

The funeral of Amelia Higginbottom took place from her parents' residence on Middlesex street yesterday afternoon, interment being made in Cedar Grove cemetery.

Higginbotham - On February 18th, 1906, Samuel W., beloved husband of Elizabeth Higginbotham, nee Robinson, aged 56 years.

The relatives and friends of the family are respectfully invited to attend the funeral, on Thursday afternoon, at 2 o'clock, fro his family residence, 563 Ferry avenue, Camden, N.J. Remains may be viewed on Wednesday evening. Interment at New Camden Cemetery.

Mrs. Phoebe Hicinbothem, a summer resident at Whitesville, in Neptune Township, died while sitting in her rocking chair last Friday night. She was 56 years old and died of heart disease.

The funeral of Benjamin Higinbotham was held last night from the late home, 93 Graham Street. The regular burial service was read by Rev. Walter E. Howe, rector of Ascension Protestant Episcopal Church. Mr. Higinbotham was one of the founders of the church, having served for several years as organist when it was know as St. Paul's.

Many relatives and friends were present and the members of Eagle Lodge No. 53, F.&A.M., attended in a body. Worshipful Master George Schau conducted the usual Masonic funeral rites. Among the floral offerings was a square and compass from Eagle Lodge. Interment was made at 10 o'clock this morning in Machpelah Cemetery.

Mrs. Charles Higginbottom, fifty-eight years old, of 21 Bellevue Avenue, died yesterday. The funeral will take place from her late home on Monday morning at 10 o'clock. The interment will be in Riverview Cemetery under the direction of Clifford P Taylor.

James Higgenbotham died on Monday at the home of John Munyon, and was buried on Wednesday. James was the brother of Samuel Higgenbothem, who formerly kept a saloon at Gloucester, and the deceased was known as "Peanut Jimmie."

Mary C. Dilks Higginbotham (1851-1923) NJ
Mrs. Mary C. Higginbotham of this city, passed way Friday evening at her home on North Broad Street, after a lingering illness of several years. The deceased was a life-long resident of Woodbury and will be greatly missed in the community in which she resided. She leaves beside her husband, Joseph Higginbotham, a son Louis, and a daughter, Miss Nellie.

After an illness of four years, Henry Higginbotham, veteran of the Civil War, died at the home of his son, Oscar H. Higginbotham, Eighth and Penn streets, Saturday evening. Mr. Higginbotham had been confined to his room two years. The deceased served in a number of major battles of the Civil War and was wounded in the leg. He was a member of William B. Hatch Post, No. 37, Grand Army of the Republic.

Funeral services will be held tomorrow afternoon from the home of his daughter, Mrs. Annie Way, 832 North Second street, tomorrow afternoon at 2 o'clock. Rev. Frederick Blaser, pastor of Linden Baptist Church, will conduct the services. Interment will be made in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Gloucester, in charge of Joseph H. Murray and Son, undertakers. The body may be viewed this evening.

Mr. Higginbotham was 79 years old. He was a widower and is survived by four daughters and two sons, Mrs. Annie Way, Mrs. Louis Whitaker, Mrs. William Lowe, Miss May Higginbotham, Oscar H. Higginbotham and Hester Higginbotham. His son, Oscar, is president of the United Investors Company and vice-president of the North Camden Business Men's Association.

Marcus Higginbotham, prominent Mason of Jersey City, died last night at the home of his daughter, Mrs. George Rurode, 302 Third Avenue, Bradley Beach, aged 85. Mr. Higginbotham was the second oldest 33rd degree Mason in the northern Masonic jurisdiction, receiving the degree in 1871 at Boston. He was made a member of the Masonic consistory in 1867 in Jersey City. He was a past master and was affiliated with several Masonic organizations, including the Knights Templar and the Shriners. In his early life he traveled and lectured for the Masonic order, covering this state as well as other nearby states.

Mr. Higginbotham's early life was spent in Syracuse, N.Y. He was one of the first to build a summer home at Bradley Beach where he continued to come every summer. He at one time owned the largest jewelry store in Jersey City. While living at Bradley Beach he taught a Bible class in the Old Westminster church, this city, and was connected with the Old Jersey City Tabernacle, being a deacon and elder. At the time of his death he was a member of th First Presbyterian Church, Jersey City. He was a civil war veteran.

The body was taken to the Masonic temple, Jersey City, where funeral services will be held. He is survived by a wife, and eight children. They are Mrs. Edward Van Dyke, Mrs. Rurode and Mrs. Carlton Connor, Marcus Higginbotham of Bradley Beach, Clement, Harold and Rudolph Higginbotham, all of Jersey City.

Funeral services for the late Samuel Higginbotham, of Gloucester, will be held on Wednesday afternoon at 2 o'clock from the home of his daughter, Mrs. Annie Cadwell, 737 Market street, Gloucester, Burial will be in Cedar Grove Cemetery.

Failing to rally after several blood transfusions in the West Jersey Homeopathic Hospital, Higginbotham died yesterday in the institution. He was 52 years old.

Higginbotham was a saloonkeeper in Gloucester until an accident six years ago in whick he lost his leg. In his recent illness numerous friends had answered the call for blood for transfusion. Henry Quinn, James Pine and Henry Hoover were among those that responded.

Fernald - On April 7, 1928, Elizabeth, beloved wife of Andrew Fernald, nee Higginbotham.

Charles Higgenbotham, aged father of Frank Higgenbotham of Lenox avenue, died suddenly at the home of his son Tuesday night. Mr. Higginbotham had been in failing health for several months and had brought to Pompton Lakes from Paterson to be in the care of relatives. He is survived by his widow, who also makes her home with Mr. and Mrs. Frank Higgenbotham and several sons.

Funeral services were held at the home yesterday morning at 10:30 o'clock. They were in charge of the Rev. J. Warren Albinson, of Christ Episcopal Church.

Mr. James Higginbotham and family of 834 Somerset St., Gloucester, N.J., wish to thank their relatives friends and neighbors for the kindness shown, flowers and automobiles tendered during their recent bereavement, the loss of wife and mother, Mrs. Mary Higginbotham.

Ocean City - July 9 - The funeral of Mrs. Elizabeth Higginbotham, 74, who died Sunday afternoon in the Sea Isle City Hospital of a complication of diseases, will take place at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Cadman funeral parlors, 809 Central av. The Rev. Walter R. Scott, rector of Holy Trinity Episcopal Church, will conduct the services.

Mrs. Higginbotham, who had lived here 12 years, at 1246 Central av., is survived by her husband, Joseph, and one son, who lived at home.

Marlton, Jan. 20 - Samuel Higginbotham, 65, farmer who had resided here for the past 35 years, died at his home on Locust avenue today after an illness of one year. Higginbotham came to this county from England at the age of 18, and resided in Philadelphia before coming to this town. He was a member of the Sons of St. George, Philadelphia. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday. Burial will be in Colestown Cemetery. He is survived by two sons and four daughters, Alfred and Samuel Jr. of Marlton; Mrs. Gertrude M. Moore, Medford; Mrs. Mary E. Wells, Marlton; Mrs. Ruth Tiedeken, Collingswood, and Mrs. Lydia Robb, Westmont.

Asbury Park, March 11 - George Hicinbothem, Sr., 77, father of Sergt. George Hicinbothem Jr., of the local police department, died last night at his home, 1204 Fourth Avenue, where he had been suffering from a heart ailment for the past several weeks. He was a retired New York truckman an had been a resident of this city for 12 years. His son is the president of the newly organized Policeman's Protective Benevolent Association of this city.

Besides his son, George, he leaves his widow, Frances, two other sons, Frank of Morristown and Roy of Hoboken, and a daughter, Mrs. Muriel Phillips, of Hoboken. His body was taken to the David B. Reidy Funeral Home where funeral arrangements will be made.

The funeral of Miss May Higginbotham, 60, who died suddenly, Sunday, will be held at 2:30 p.m. tomorrow, at 250 White Horse Pike, Audubon. Burial will be private, at Cedar Grove Cemetery, Gloucester. She was the daughter of the late Henry and Morrie Higginbotham.

Daniel Higginbotham, 66, of Gershal Avenue, Norma, died last evening at his home after an extended illness. He is survived by his wife, Rhoda, of Vineland; three daughters, Mrs. Daniel Arkin, of Mosemere, Mrs. Richard Rolland, of Paris, France, and Miss Mary Higginbotham, of Vineland; a son, Ernest of Indianapolis, Ind., and two grandchildren, Miss Louise Bidwell, of Mosemere, and James Allan Higginbotham, of Indianapolis.

Private funeral services will be held at 3 P.M. Sunday at his late residence with interment in Siloam Cemetery.

Batezel - On July 8, 1936, Jeannetta, Wife of Daniel R. Batezel (nee Higginbotham), age 69 years.

Mrs. Grace Maud Newton, 71, of Freehold, N.J., died at here home there. Death was caused by a cerebral hemorrhage.

She is survived by four sons: George Ira, of Belleville, N.J.; John M. of Beachwood, N.J.; William R. Jr., of Newark and Frank T. Newton, of Mountain View, N.J., also two daughters, Mrs. Elizabeth Sandhusen, of Nutley, N.J. and Mrs. John T. Frus, of Atlantic City, and one brother, James Higgenbotham, of Newark.

Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, at 2 p.m., at the J. Bunker Plum Building, 15 S. Indiana av. Entombment will be in Laurel Memorial Mausoleum.

Funeral services for Mrs. Beatrice Higginbotham Carroll, 36, wife of Charles G. Carroll, of Dater Avenue, Saddle River, who died Saturday afternoon at the Evangelical Deaconess Hospital in Brooklyn after a long illness, will be held at 10 o'clock tomorrow morning at the Van Emburgh Funeral Home in Ridgewood.

Born in Wilmar, Ark., Mrs. Carroll was the daughter of James Higginbotham and Sally Graham Higginbotham. She attended Mount St. Mary Convent in Little Rock, Ark., and Galloway College, also in Little Rock, and was graduated from the nursing school of St. Luke's Hospital, Kansas City, Mo.

She practiced her profession in Kansas City and in Brooklyn until her marriage in 1931.

Mr. and Mrs. Carroll have lived in Saddle River for the past 5 years. Mrs. Carroll was active in Bergen County Women's Democratic Organization. Her husband is a partner in the grain broker's firm, V.E. Newcomb & Co.

Mrs. Carroll is survived by her mother, Mrs. James Higginbotham, by her husband, and by three brothers, Robert of Rutherford, Louis, of Teaneck, and Edward of Crossett, Ark., and by a sister, Mrs. Rita Barnios, of New York City.

Funeral services for Daniel Higginbotham, 55, a former resident of Gloucester, who died at his home in Merchantville on Wednesday, will be held at 700 Powell street, Gloucester, at 2 p.m. tomorrow. Burial will be in Locustwood Memorial Park. Mr. Higginbotham, who had been ill for several weeks was a shipyard worker and is survived by his widow, Parthenia, and three daughters, Estella, Catherine and Parthenia M., and a son, Edward.

Funeral services will be held today at 11 a.m. for Franklin Higginbotham, Hall Avenue and Creek Road, Bellmawr, who died Saturday. Burial will be in Berlin Cemetery.

Services for Mrs. Matilda Lowe Higginbotham of 1118 Wilson Avenue, West Englewood, principal of School 2, Bogota, will be held tonight at 8 o'clock at Volk's Colonial Home, Teaneck.

Mrs. Higginbotham died at Hackensack Hospital at 1:35 Saturday of dyscrasia, a rare blood disease, with which she had long been ill.

The Rev. W.H. Westerfield of Old South Church, Bergenfield, will officiate. Interment will take place at 10 A.M. tomorrow at the Old South Church Cemetery.

Born in New York City, Mrs. Higginbotham attended Newark Normal School and was graduated from Columbia University, subsequently obtaining a position in the Bergenfield school system.

Later she transferred to Bogota and became principal of School 2, where she taught about 17 years. She was a member of the Dumont Chapter O.E.S, and of the PTA of School 2.

She is survived by a son a month old, her husband E. Hughes Higginbotham, her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Lowe of Bergenfield, and a brother, Charles Lowe Jr.

Many donors, including teacher of the Bogota school system, gave blood for numerous transfusions in a desperate to save Mrs. Higginbotham's life. She was released from the hospital on November 23 after giving birth to her son, and was readmitted December 9, suffering from the blood disease. An autopsy showed that the veins had collapsed, making further transfusions impossible.

John Edwards Higginbotham, Princeton University athlete, and former South Orange resident who resigned his job as a Philadelphia automobile salesman to enlist in the Canadian Royal Air Force, was killed in an air crash near London, Ontario, yesterday.

Higginbotham, who was graduated last year after playing varsity football and soccer and was captain of the Princeton lacrosse team, resigned from the Packard Agency, 3223 North BRoad street, Philadelphia, in September.

He crashed in mid-air near Crumlin Airport, with a machine piloted by Lewis Duff, Canada's sixth ranking tennis player and a graduate of the University of Miami, Fla. Both were dead when other pilots reached the wreakage of their planes. Both were 23.

Higginbotham was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Edwards Higginbotham, of South Orange. The father is a partner in the firm of P.L. Pritchard and Co., New York hemp and jute importers. The dead man was a nephew of the late Edward D. Buffield, who was president of Prudential Life Insurance, Co.

Mrs. Martha Hickingbotham Wade, 88, died Monday at Garden Terrace Nursing Home. She was the widow of George James Wade. Mrs. Wade lived many years in the Roseville section of Newark, where she was active in St. Barnabas Episcopal Church. The last 20 years she resided with her daughter, Mrs. Walter G. McConnell, in Asbury Park.

Besides Mrs. McConnell, who now lives in Charleston, S.C., Mrs. Wade leaves a son, George Garland Wade, of Madison, and two grandchildren. Rev. Dr. David K. Montgomery of St. Peter's Episcopal Church, Morristown conducted funeral services Thursday in the Martenis Funeral Home.

Funeral services for James Higginbotham, 65, a lifelong Gloucester resident who died yesterday at the West Jersey Hospital, after a several weeks illness, will be held Monday at 2 p.m. at his late residence, 834 Little Somerset Street, Gloucester. Burial will be at Union Cemetery. He is survived by his widow, Kathryn Stone Higginbotham; three sons, Alfred, Winfield and Raymond; all of Gloucester; a daughter, Mrs. Myrtle Sprogell, of Oaklyn, and two brothers, Alfred of Pennsauken and George, of Gloucester.

Higginbotham - At Atlantic Highlands, on Feb. 4, 1943, Charles E., son of Sarah Higginbotham of Greenwood Lake, N.J. Funeral services Monday, Feb. 8, at Richards Funeral Home, Riverdale, at 3 p.m. Interment, Laurel Grove Cemetery, Paterson.

A high Requiem Mass for Mrs. Julia Higgenbottom Doherty, of 58 Plum street, who died on Wednesday, was said on Saturday in St. Agnes R.C. Church.

P.G. Plavier and Sons, at 519 Marshall street, at the corner of Hazel road, had charge of the interment in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.

Mrs. Doherty, who was the wife of Patrick Doherty, was 68 years of age. Although born in Ireland, she resided in the Southern section of Paterson the greater part of her life.

Surviving are her husband; three sons, John, James and Patrick Jr., and a sister, Mrs. Mary McCabe of Hackensack.

Mrs. Sarah Hicinbothem, 91, of 15 Orchard Street, Ridgefield Park, died at her home Wednesday. A native of Catskill, N.Y., she had lived in the Park for 26 years.

She is survived by two sons, William Henry of Ridgefield Park, and George D. of New York and two daughters, Mrs. Sarah Goeeschling and Mrs. Emily Dawney, both of New York.

Services will be held tonight at Snell's Funeral Home at 8 P.M. with the Rev. Alexander Fraser officiating. Burial will be in George Washington Memorial Park tomorrow at 10 A.M.

Funeral Services for Mrs. Sarah E. Higginbotham, 86, widow of Charles E. Higginbotham, who died Friday at Hope Dell Hospital, were held this afternoon at Richards' Funeral parlors, Riverdale. Rev. Funeral services for Henry Higginbotham, 89, former lumber mill operator, who died Monday in his home in Hall avenue, Bellmawr, will be held at 10 a.m. today in a funeral parlor, 8 Kings Highway West, Haddonfield.

Mr. Higginbotham was the father of 11 sons and three daughters. He is also survived by his widow, Sarah, 45 grandchildren. 13 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

Scotch Plains - Mrs. Clement B. Higginbotham Sr. of Pine Terr. died Saturday (Sept. 29, 1945) in Muhlenberg Hospital, Plainfield. Mrs. Higginbotham had resided in this vicinity for 20 years, and was a member of the Scotch Plains Methodist Church. She was the former Lenore Golden.

In addition to her husband, Mrs. Higginbotham is survived by three daughters, Miss Irene Higginbotham and Mrs. Frank Blaszcak, at home; and Mrs. Robert S. Kremer, 901 W. Front St., Plainfield; and four sons, Clement B. Higginbotham Jr., at home; Pfc. James Higginbotham, USA, Fort Dix; Harold Higginbotham, radarman second class, serving with the Navy in the Pacific, and Corp. Joseph Higginbotham, USAAF, Chatham Field, Ga.

Also three sisters, Mrs. John Leigh, Hetfield Ave., this place; Mrs. Bert McDermot, Bulls Head, Staten Island, N.Y.; and Mrs. Stephen Lengyle of Cassville, N.J.; and three brothers, John Golden, Bordentown; Roy Golden of Prescot Pl., Plainfield; and Fred Golden of Westfield.

Funeral services for Raymond E. Higginbotham, 29, of 834 Little Somerset street, Gloucester, who died Thursday at West Jersey hospital, after a two weeks' illness, will be held Monday at 2 p.m., at the residence. He was a native of Gloucester and was employed in the turret shop of the plant of the New York Shipbuilding Corp. He is survived by his widow, Melba A.; a daughter, Melba M.; a sister, Mrs. Myrtle Sprogell, of Gloucester Heights, and two brothers, Alfred and Winfield, of Gloucester.

Services for Miss Lena Higginbotham, 67, of 737 Market Street, Gloucester, who died Tuesday will be at 2 p.m. Friday at the home of her niece, Mrs. Betty Kimmey, with whom she lived. Burial will be in Cedar Grove Cemetery. Miss Higginbotham was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. James Higginbotham of Gloucester.

Mrs. Rhoda A. Higginbotham, 76, of 1209 East Landis Ave., died Wednesday in the Bridgeton Hospital after an extended illness. She was the widow of Daniel Higginbotham, who died seven years ago, and was a resident of Vineland for 29 years.

She is survived by three daughters, Mary, of Vineland; Mrs. Mabel Arkin, of New York City, and Mrs. B. Rowland Adair, of Memphis, Tenn.; a son, Ernest H., of Memphis; two grandchildren, Mrs. W.C. Lockey, of Vineland, and Mrs. Merle Straught, of Memphis; and one great grandchild.

The funeral will be held from Rone Funeral Chapel on Saturday at the convenience of the family, with interment in Siloam Cemetery. The funeral will be strictly private.

Mrs. Anna Marie Hicinbothem, 1102 River Road, Belmar, died yesterday at her home after a long illness. She was the wife of George Hicinbothem, a retired Asbury Park policeman, and had been born in Ireland, the daughter of Frank O'Donnell and Sarah Laurie O'Donnell.

Besides her husband, she is survived by a sister, Mrs. Margaret Wallace, Brooklyn. Mrs. Hicinbothem had been a resident of Belmar for the past 12 years, and was a communicant of St. Rose Catholic Church. Services are under the direction of the Daniel A. Reilly funeral home, Belmar.

East Orange - Mrs. Irene Higginbotham VanDyke, widow of Edward VanDyke, a former resident of Little Silver and Bradley Beach, died suddenly Monday night at the home of her son, Edward VanDyke Jr., East Orange.

She also is survived by three sisters, Mrs. GEorge Rurode, Miss Elizabeth Higginbotham, Bradley Beach, and Mrs. Carlton Connor, Washington, and three brothers, Marcus Higginbotham, Red Bank, and Harold and Rudolph Higginbotham, Bradley Beach.

Surviving are her husband, Lewis T.; a daughter, Mrs. Mildred Tomasello, Clementon; two sons, Earl, Clementon, and William, Springville, Pa.; four grandchildren and two brothers, Heston W. Services for Alice E. Higginbotham, 68, of 1936 Forty-seventh Street, Pennsauken, will be held Friday at 2 p.m. in Grace Episcopal Church, Merchantville. A lifelong resident of the Camden area, Mrs. Higginbotham died Monday in her home after a long illness. Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Anna E. Wyman and Mrs. Alice E. Burk; two sons, Howard and John W. Hewitt; 14 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren, all Pennsauken.

Mrs. Catherine Branyan, 41, of 118 Leslie Avenue, Merchantville, died today in Cooper Hospital, after a long illness. Mrs. Branyan resided in Merchantville 26 years and was a member of the Trinity Methodist Church. She is survived by her husband, Albert G.; a son, Albert G. Jr.; her mother, Parthenia Higginbotham, Merchantville; a bother, Edward D. Higginbotham, Camden, and two sisters, Mrs. Frank Tucker, Seattle, Wash., and Miss Estella Higginbotham, Merchantville. Services will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. in the funeral home at 33 West Maple Avenue, Merchantville, where friends may call Monday night. Burial will be in Locustwood Memorial Park.

Heston W. Higginbotham Sr., 64, died yesterday in his home, 254 Crestmont Terrace, Collingswood. Born in Gloucester, he was a Collingswood resident 17 years and was custodian at the Citizens National Bank of Collingswood.

Surviving are his widow, Ann E.; a son, Heston W. Jr., Oaklyn; three daughters, Mrs. Thomas McCloskey and Mrs. William Warren, both of Collingswood, and Mrs. George Geisinger, Bridgeton; four grandchildren and a brother, Oscar, Camden.

Services will be held Friday at 11 a.m. in Foster's Funeral Home, Haddon and Lees Avenues, Collingswood, where friends may call tomorrow night. Burial will be in Harleigh Cemetery.

James Higginbotham, 67, of 160 West Broadway, Paterson, died in the Barnert Memorial Hoapital, Paterson, on Thursday night. He had been ill for some time.

Funeral services will be held at a Riverdale funeral home at 1:30 o'clock Tuesday afternoon. The Rev. Gerrit Heemstra, pastor of the Pompton Reformed Church, will officiate. Interment will follow in Laurel Grove Cemetery.

He is survived by three brothers, John of New London, Conn., Thomas, in Paterson, and Frank, of Greenwood Lake.

Services for Thomas Higginbotham, 70, retired shuttlemaker, will be conducted tomorrow at 1:30 p.m. at the R. Charles D. Legg and Sons Home for Funerals, 384 Broadway, by the Rev. O.M. Demcott, of the Third Presbyterian Church. Burial will be in the Sparta Methodist Church Cemetery. Friends may call after 7 tonight.

Mr. Higginbotham died yesterday after an illness of several months. He was a native of Macclesfield, England.

Surviving are his wife, the former Lydia Clark; two brothers, Frank, of Newfoundland, and John H. of New London, Conn.

Mrs. Marie Eliza Higginbotham, of 117 N. Fourth St., Pleasantville, died Saturday. She had resided there 52 years.

Mrs. Higginbotham was the oldest member of the Senior Choir of Shiloh Baptist Church and was also a member of the Missionary Society and Month of March Club.

She is survived by two sons, James and Walter Higginbotham, of Philadelphia; three daughters, Mrs. Mary Stewart, of Philadelphia; Mrs. Lucille Speed, of Pleasantville, and Mrs. Edna Pharr, of Gastonia, N.C.; two sisters, Mrs. Emma Peters and Miss Stella Smith, of Emherst, Va., and 15 grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. at Shiloh Baptist Church, with the Rev. Russell Roberts officiating.

Red Bank - Marcus Higginbotham, 78, former special attorney to the U.S. attorney general in New York, and a resident of Bradley Beach and Red Bank 40 years, died last night at his home in Miami, Fla., relatives here have been notified.

Mr. Higginbotham practiced law in Jersey City and served as special attorney from 1924 to 1947. He moved to Miami in 1948 after living for 20 years in Red Bank. He previously had lived in Bradley Beach 20 years. He is a member of Varick Lodge, F&AM, Jersey City, 45 years, and of Mount Vernon Chapter, Royal Arch Masons, and Warren Council, Royal and Select Masters.

Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Helen Richardson Barr Higginbotham, Miami; a daughter, Mrs. Helen Hoffman, Red Bank; two sons, Marcus 3d, Paulsboro, and Robert Emmet, Brooklyn.

Also three brothers, Clement and Rudolph, Bradley Beach, and Harold, Asbury Park; three sisters, Miss Elizabeth Higginbotham, and Mrs. George Rurode, both Bradley Beach, and Mrs. Carlton Connor, Washington.

Mrs. Jane Higginbotham, 76, of 923 Somerset St., Gloucester City, died Tuesday in Lakeland General Hospital. Born in Philadelphia, she had resided in Gloucester City 40 years.

Surviving are her husband, William; two sons, Redmond L. Carson, Camden, and Joseph Carson, South Gate, Calif.; a daughter, Mrs. Miriam Van Hest, Atlantic City; a sister, Mrs. Kathryn Becker, West ville; seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

SCOTCH PLAINS - Clement B. Higginbotham, a Scotch Plains resident for 20 years, died Friday of a heart attack at Bradley Beach, where he had made his home four years. His age was 72. He was a retired employee of Scotch Plains Township. His wife was the late Mrs. Lenore Golden Higginbotham. Born in Jersey City, Mr. Higginbotham was a member of the Methodist Church here, Varick Lodge 31, F&AM, Jersey City and Union County Blind Association. He is survived by four sons, Clement B. Jr. of North Plainfield; James H. of Kinston, N.C.; Harold C. of Norwalk, Cal. and Joseph G. of Plainfield; three daughters, Mrs. Robert S. (Betty) Kremer of Plainfield, Mrs. Frank (Anna) Blaszcak of North Plainfield and Mrs. John (Irene) Schottinger of Second street, Fanwood; two brothers, Harold of Asbury Park and Rudolph of Bradley Beach; three sisters, Miss Elizabeth of Bradley Beach, Mrs. George W. Rurode of Bradley Beach and Mrs. Carlton N. Conner of Chevy Chase, Md., and 10 grandchildren. Funeral services were held at the A. M. Runyon & Son "Home for Services," Plainfield, Tuesday morning with the Rev. Cloyd Osborne, pastor of Scotch Plains Methodist Church, officiating. Interment followed in Hillside Cemetery, Plainfield. Varick Lodge conducted its rites at the funeral home Monday evening.

Medford, Jan. 31 - Services were held today in a funeral home at 24 N. Main St., for James Higginbotham, 80, of Lake Cotoxon, who died Saturday in his home. Burial was in Locustwood Memorial Park, Delaware Township.

Born in Virginia, he was a retired carpenter and a member of the Brotherhood of Carpenters of America.

Surviving are his wife, Frieda; two sons, Earl of Mt. Holly, and James V. of Westmont; a daughter, Mrs. Alfrieda Carr, of Earlton; a brother, William, of Lake Cotoxon, and nine grandchildren.

Mrs. Sallie Higginbotham, 90, wife of the late William Higginbotham, 15 Pike Ave., died Saturday evening after a lengthy illness.

Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Lillian Rebecca Harris, of this city; a son, William, also of this city; one brother, William King, of Jersey City; two sisters, Mrs. Annie Gregan, Jersey City, and Mrs. Tillie Mikkelson, Red Band; seven grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

Medford, Sept. 12 - William H. Higginbotham, 74, died Thursday in his home here. A native of Norfolk, Va., and former Gloucester City resident, he had lived four years in Medford. He was a retired employee of New York Shipbuilding Corp.

Surviving are two stepsons, Redmond Corson, of Camden and Joseph, of Southgate, Calif.; a stepdaughter, Mrs. Miriam Van Hest, of Atlantic City, and eight grandchildren.

Mt. Laurel, Jan. 3 - Mrs. Mary J. Higginbotham, 88, died here Friday in the home of a daughter, Mrs. Charles Wells, with whom she lived on Elbow Lane Rd. Born in Royden, England, Mrs. Higginbotham lived in this country more than 70 years.

Surviving, in addition to Mrs. Wells, are four daughters, Mrs. Elsie Holtz and Mrs. Benjamin Moore, both of Marlton; Mrs. Fred Robb, of Pennsauken, and Mrs. Richard Tiedeken, of Westmont; two sons, Alfred and S. Winford, both of Marlton; nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Middletown - George J. Higginbotham, 64, of 19 Andover St., died Sunday in Elizabeth General Hospital. Born in Newark, he was the son of the late Henry and Catherine Fitzpatrick Higginbotham.

He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Anna Connelly Higginbotham; a daughter, Mrs. Mary Frances Kempson of Middletown; three grandchildren; and two sisters, Mrs. Edna Wirth of Newark, and Mrs. Catherine Tucker of Highlands.

A high requiem mass was offered yesterday in St. Catherine's Catholic Church, East Keansburg, by Rev. Thaddeus J. Wojiehowski. Burial was in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Keyport, under the direction of the Ryan Funeral Home, Keansburg.

Belmar - George Hicinbothem Jr. died this morning at his home, 1102 River Road. He was born in New York, son of the late George and Frances Reynolds Hicinbothem. He had been in the Shore area since 1914. He had lived here 25 years. His wife was the late Anna O'Donnell Hicinbothem.

Mr. Hicinbothem was a retired policeman of Asbury Park. He was past president of Asbury Park Patrolman's Benevolent Assn.

Mary E. Higginbotham, formerly of Vineland, died suddenly yesterday in the Methodist Hospital, Houston, Tex.

She is survived by a sister, Mrs. Betty Adair of LaJolla, Calif., and a niece, Mrs. Wilfred Lockey of Vineland.

Wayne - The funeral of Frank Higgenbotham, 75, of 301 Colfax rd., was held this morning. A Requiem Mass was celebrated in St. Francis R.C. Church at Wanaque.

Mr. Higgenbotham died Saturday at his home after an illness of eight months. A county road department foremen prior to his retirement five years ago, he was born in England and came here at the age of three years. He lived most of his life in upper Passaic County, including Greenwood Lake.

He leaves a son, Frank Jr. and a daughter, Mrs. John Jones, both of Wayne; five grandchildren and one great grandchild.

Laurence Harbor - Mrs. Anna Higginbotham, 64, of 405 Matawan Rd., died yesterday in South Amboy Memorial Hospital.

Born in Newark, a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Roth, she had lived here eight years. She was the widow of John Francis Higginbotham.

Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Harold Lowe of Sayreville and Mrs. Joseph Harms, with whom Mrs. Higginbotham lived; a son, John F. Higginbotham; brother, John Roth of Newark; a sister, Mrs. Frank Vogt of Springfield, and seven grandchildren.

The funeral will be at 8:30 a.m. Friday from Day Funeral Home, Keyport, to St. Ann's Catholic Church, Newark, where high requiem mass will be offered at 10 o'clock. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, East Orange.

Mrs. Sarah J. Higginbotham, 82, of 600 Leaf Ave., Bellmawr, died Thursday in her home. She was a member of the Free Will Baptist Church, Monroeville.

Born in Jersey City, she was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Edward Barr. She was the widow of Marcus Higginbotham.

She is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Bess M. Hoffman of South St., Red Bank; two sons, Marcus Higginbotham 3d of Woodbury and Robert E. Higginbotham of Brooklyn; seven grandchildren, and two sisters, Mrs. Frances Sallee of this place and Mrs. Edna Davis, Asbury Park, N.J.

Bound Brook - Jymme Ann Higginbottom, six-month-old daughter of James R. and Patricia Gibbs Higginbottom of 653 Hanken Rd., died last night (Apr. 1, 1963) in Somerset Hospital in Somerville where she had been a patient four days. The child was born in the same hospital Oct. 1, 1962.

Besides her parent, she leaves two sisters, Abbie, 7, and Joelen, 5, and a brother, Bradlaugh, 4, at home; her grandparents, Mrs. Samuel B. Higginbottom of Syosset, L.I. and Mrs. and Mrs. Walter S. Gibbs of Broomfield, Colo. and her great-grandparents Mr. and Mrs. Carl J. Seavey of Seattle, Wash, and Mrs. Charles Gibbs of Kirkland, Wash.

Hollywood, Fla. - Mrs. Ethel N. Conner, a frequent summer visitor to Bradley Beach, N.J., died here Thursday.

Among the survivors are two brothers and two sisters in Bradley Beach, Mrs. George Rurode, Miss Elizabeth Higginbotham and Harold and Rudolph Higginbotham.

Mrs. Margaret M. Higginbotham died yesterday in her home, 255 S. 3rd Ave., Gloucester City.

Surviving are her husband, Leroy J.; a daughter, Marilyn, at home; her father, Richard A. Sterling of Gloucester City; three sisters, Mrs. Evelyn Morton of Cinnaminson, Mrs. Dorothy Batezel and Mrs. Christine Jenniss of Gloucester City.

Bradley Beach - Rudolph H. Higginbotham, 86, of 513 Newark Ave., a retired leather goods salesman, died yesterday at Jersey Shore Medical Center, (Fitkin), Neptune, after a short illness.

He was born in Jersey City and lived here 20 years, residing formerly in Red Bank.

He was a member of Varick Lodge 31, F&AM, and Mt. Vernon Chapter 8, R.A.M, both Jersey City.

Surviving are his brother, Harold, and two sisters, Mrs. George W. Rurode and Miss Elizabeth T., all at home.

Wayne - William H. Hicinbothem, 79, of 15 Bristol Place, died Wednesday, after a brief illness at St. Joseph's Hospital, Paterson.

Born in New York City, he resided most of his life in Ridgefield Park and the past four years in Wayne. He was an electrician with the Waldorf-Astoria Hotel before his retirement 14 years ago.

He was a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, Local 3 for 50 years.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Vandermay Wayne Colonial Funeral Home, 567 Ratzer Road. The Rev. George Rack, pastor of the Wayne Presbyterian Church will officiate. Interment will follow at George Washington Memorial Park, Paramus.

Surviving is one daughter, Mrs. Harold (Ruth) Gneiding of Wayne; three grandchildren, Bruce, Laurie and Holly Gneiding, all of Wayne.

Bradley Beach - Harold L. Higginbotham, 85, of 513 Newark Ave., died yesterday at Jersey Shore Medical Center, Neptune.

Mr. Higginbotham was born in Jersey City and lived there until he moved here 20 years ago. He was a retired salesman.

Mr. Higginbotham was a member of Varrick Lodge 31, Jersey City and Warren Council 5, F&AM, the Royal Arce Masons; Scottish Rite, New Jersey Consistory; Knights Templar, and the Grand Council of Royal and Select Masters, New Jersey.

Surviving are two sisters, Mrs. George W. Rurode, Ocean Grove, and Miss Elizabeth Higginbotham, with whom he made his home and several nieces and nephews.

Hickenbottom - On July 12, 1967 in Cooper Hospital, Douglas, of 412 Charleston Avenue, Lawnside, aged 62 years. He was a retired operator of a wood yard. Laurence Harbor - Mrs. Evelyn Harms, 46, of 406 Matawan Road died Sunday in the United Hospital Medical Center, Newark.

She was born in Newark and had lived here 18 years. She was a communicant of St. Laurence Catholic Church.

Survivors include her husband, Joseph Harms; a son, Raymond Harms of Howell Township; a daughter, Miss Karen Harms, at home; a brother, John Higinbotham and a sister, Mrs. Catherine Rowe, both of Sayreville; and two grandchildren.

Atlantic City - Mrs. Beatrice Higginbotham, widow of famed jazz trombonist J. C. Higginbotham, died Thursday.

Mrs. Higginbotham, a resident of 38 N. Rhode Island Ave., died in Atlantic City Medical Center. Born in Chatham County, Ga., she had bee a resident here 10 years, after living several years in New York City.

She was a member of the Salem Methodist Church in New York and past president of the Western Service Guild of that church. She was affiliated with Christ Memorial Methodist Church here and was president of the Best Yat Social Club.

She is survived by a brother, William Livingston of Atlantic City and a sister, Louise Adams of Jersey City.

Funeral services will be held 8 p.m. Monday at Christ Memorial Methodist Church with the Rev. James Flowers officiating. Burial will be Tuesday in the family plot at Hoboken Cemetery, North Bergen.

A viewing will be held Monday evening from 6 until the time of the services. Arrangements are by the Greenidge Funeral Home.

Neptune - Miss Elizabeth T. Higginbotham, 87, died Tuesday. She lived at the Conva-Center for the last year, and was formerly a long-time resident of Lake Terrace in Bradley Beach.

Rutherford - Services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday for Robert Higginbotham, 86, who died at home Friday.

He was born in Kingsland, Ark., and had lived in Rutherford for the past 54 years.

Mr. Higginbotham had been a highway inspector in Bergen County and later a state alcoholic beverage control agent before retiring 35 years ago.

A World War I Navy veteran, he was past commander of Post 109, American Legion, and the Veterans of World War I, Barracks 1616. He was a life member of St. Albans, I.I. Lodge 56, Free and Accepted Masons, Floral Park, N.Y. He was a member of Salaam Temple of the Shrine, Livingston; and the community's Old Guard.

A resident here sine 1959, Mr. Heginbotham was a retired executive of the Toms River Chemical Co. and was a member of the Toms River Board of Education since 1970, where he was a former vice-president.

He began his career as a chemist with the CIBA Dye and Chemical Co., the forerunner of Toms River Chemical, in 1929. He retired as manager of the coloristic laboratory in 1965. He was a member of the firms management committee; was a past president of the management club there; the Scottish Rite Valley of Trenton, and was a 32nd Degree Mason with the Norwood Lodge F&AM, Norwood, Ohio.

Surviving are his wife, Helen; two sons, Thomas L., Cincinnati, Ohio, and Jack W., Miamisburg, Ohio; a sister, Mrs. Harold Dingee, Sag Harbor, N.Y., and six grandchildren.

North Plainfield - Clement B. Higginbotham, 61, of 521 Somerset St., died Saturday (Aug. 7, 1976) at home. Born in Bayonne, he had resided in North Plainfield since 1948, moving from Scotch Plains.

Mr. Higginbotham worked for the public works department of the Borough of North Plainfield.

Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Anna S. Bridgeton - George E. Higginbotham, 53, of Diament Road died Friday afternoon at his home after being in Failing health for the past six months.

Born in Grindstone, Pa., he has resided at his present address for the past 12 years. He had been an area resident for the past 26 years.

Mr. Higginbotham was employed at the Owens-Illinois Glass Co. for 25 years and had served during World War II in the Air Force. He was a member of the First Baptist Church.

Surviving are his wife, Barbara; two daughters, Barbara Newkirk of here and Deborah at home; his mother, Nellie of New Salem, Pa.; five brothers, Robert of Rochester, Pa., Donald of Linfield, Mass, James of Uniontown, Pa., Ronald of this city and Lloyd of Grindstone; and two grandchildren.

New Brunswick - Mary Hazen Higinbotham Johnson, 85, of Richardson Streey died Yesterday at St. Peter's Medical Center, where she had been a patient for the past month.

Born in New Orleans, she had live in Kearny and Red Bank before moving to New Brunswick last year.

Mrs. Johnson was a communicant of Trinity Episcopal Church of Red Bank and a member of the church's Women's Guild.

Surviving are a son, David of Bloomfield; a daughter, Ruth Poczik, with whom she lived; five grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Boylan Funeral Home, 188 Easton Ave., followed by an 11 a.m. Burial Office at Trinity Episcopal Church of Red Bank.

Raritan Township - Lillian G. Higginbotham, 72, of R.D. 6, died Monday (Aug. 18, 1980) at Hunterdon Medical Center in Raritan Township.

Born in Newark, she lived in East Orange and Irvington before moving to Raritan Township nine years ago.

She was employed as a secretary at Newark Elevator Co. in Irvington before retiring in 1971.

Surviving are her daughter, Mrs. Vincent Maiorano of Flemington; three brothers, Charles Stephens of Orange, William Stephens of Springfield, Mass., and John Stephens of Malden, Mass.; a sister, Florance Ralph of Wheeling, W. Va.; three grandchildren and a great-granddaughter.

Marie C. Higginbotham, 99, of North Second St., died Tuesday at home following an extended illness.

Surviving are two sons, Thomas and Zack, both of Vineland; three daughters, Louise Reed of Bridgeton; Ella Robinson and Mamie H. Robb, both of Vineland; a sister, Ella Callahan of Baltimore, Md.; 12 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; 11 great-great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services, conducted by Bishop James Satchell of Church of the Lord Jesus Christ of the Apostolic Faith, will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday in the Pancoast Funeral Home.

East Orange - Robert Higginbotham, who was known nationawide by musicians and audiences as Tommy Tucker, 48, died Friday (Jan. 22, 1982) at University Hospital in Newark. He was 48.

He was a pianist and vocalist who had worked with a variety of performers, including Sammy Davis Jr., Ray Charles, Lionel Hampton, the Rolling Stones and Roland Kirk.

He had many friends in the Plainfield area and made appearances in Central Jersey at dances, functions and concerts during his professional career.

Surviving him are his wife, Delores Phelph Higginbotham; five daughters, Regina B. Westbrook of Columbus, Ohio, Edith Hall, Ayana Taylor and Melanie D., all of East Orange; three sons, Keith R. of Atlanta, Ga., Richard V. of Oakland, Calif., and Chris L. of East Orange; four sisters, Shirley Speakes, Patricia Kennerly, Juanita Robinson and Donna Applin, all of Springfield, Ohio; four brothers, LeRoy of Carson, Calif., Richard of Tucson, Ariz., and Walter and Donald, both of Dayton, Ohio.; and three grandchildren.

Hoffman - Helen (nee Higginbotham), age 73, of Red Bank, N.J., on Jan. 30, 1982. Beloved wife of Sylvester M. "Pete", and devoted mother of Lynn, Douglas, and Peter. Mrs. Higginbotham was a member of St. Augustine's Episcopal Church and the Pride of Atlantic Elks Lodge. Before retiring, she worked as a receptionist for Dr. Charles Wilson.

Denville Twp. - Franklin P. Hicinbothem died Thursday at St. Clare's Hospital after a short illness. He was 64.

Janet Higginbotham Washburn, 65, of Bath, Maine, formerly of Peapack, died Tuesday, April 28, in Bath.

Born in Orange, she lived in New Vernon, Worthington, Ohio and Peapack for most of her life.

Mrs. Washburn was a member of Church Women United, the League of Women Voters and the St. John on the Mountain Episcopal Church in Bernardsville.

Surviving are her husband, Seth Washburn; three sons, John Washburn of Long Valley; Stephen Washburn of Highland Park; and Peter Washburn of Bath; two daughters, Rebecca Kresovsky of Wichita, Kans.; and Kate Brennan of Albuquerque, N.M.; and three grandchildren.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, May 1, at the Church of the Holy Innocents in West Orange.

Atlantic City - Inez Johnson Higginbotham of 1456 Adams Court, died Monday at her home.

Born in Fort Mitchell, Ala., she lived here since 1940 and was last employed by the Service Master Cleaning Co. She formerly was employed at the Mayflower Hotel and had been a shop steward for Union Local 508. She was a member of the Second Baptist Church.

Surviving are: a son, Fred Dixon of this city; five brothers, Racine Johnson of Cleveland, Sam Johnson of Columbus, Ohio, Theodore Johnson of Red Bank, Daniel and Homer Johnson of Atlantic City; a sister, Lugene Smith of Pleasantville; and five grandchildren.

Katherine L. Higginbotham Lowe, 69, of Sayreville, died yesterday at John F. Kennedy Medical Center, Edison Township.

She was a bus driver with Bay Area Bus Service, South Amboy, for 11 years. Before that she was a bus driver with Super Service Buss Co., South Amboy, for 21 years.

She was a communicant of Our Lady of Victories Roman Catholic Church, Sayreville.

Surviving are a son, Harold Jr., Bradley Beach; four daughters, Barbara Santanello, Bradley Beach; Beverly Murph, Edison; Shirley Couch, Sayreville, and Catherine Pearce, North Brunswick Township; a brother, John, Sayreville, and 11 grandchildren.

Middletown - Ann C. Higginbotham, 88, died yesterday in the Arnold Walter Nursing Home, Holmdel.

Born in Jersey City, she lived in the Newark area before moving to Middletown in 1957.

She was a forelady for various seamstress companies, last working for Charles of the Ritz, Holmdel. She retired in 1972.

Surviving are a daughter, Mary-Frances Kempson of Middletown; a sister, Sister Lawrence Marie of the Sisters of Charity Holy Trinity Convent, Fort Lee; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Henrietta "Etta" J. Geisinger of Bridgeton died Sunday in Bridgeton Hoapital. She was 73.

Born in Collingswood, Mrs. Geisinger was a longtime Bridgeton resident, member of the First Presbyterian Church and Former member of Seven Oaks.

Her late husband, George J. Geisinger, was an executive with Prudential and chairman of the Bridgeton Hospital board of directors.

Survivors include a son, George J. "Jake" of Stevensville, Mont.; a daughter, Mary Lou Goodwin of Bridgeton; two sisters, Verna Hamill of Eustis, Fla., and Ruth McCloskey of Collingswood; a brother, Heston Higginbotham of Alto, N.M.; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

GERALDINE E. (HIGGINBOTHAM) HUME, 72, of Erma Park in Lower Township, and formerly of Atlantic County, died Friday at Shore Memorial Hospital in Somers Point.
Mrs. Hume was the owner and operator of Adventure Village Apartments of McKee City and the Sunset Gift Shops in Cape May Point from 1978 to the present.
From 1957 to 1978, she owned and operated, along with her husband, Marvin, the Boardwalk Rock and Shell Shop in Atlantic City.
Born in Broseley, Mich., she lived in Atlantic County from 1957 to 1991, before moving to Erma Park.
She is survived by her husband, Marvin I.; two daughters, Kathleen D. Strauss of Erma Park, and Sharon L. Bloom of Cold Spring; three sons, Ronald A. of Somers Point, Larry P. of Erma Park, and Brian C. of McKee City; a sister, Jean Havey of St. Louis, Mo.; two brothers, Robert Higginbotham of Poplar Bluff, Mont., and Larry Higginbotham of Springfield, Mass.; and four grandchildren.
Services will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday at Adams-Perfect Funeral Home, New and Zion roads, Northfield, where friends may call one hour before services.

Brielle - Antoinette I. Van Sprengel Hicinbothem, 69, died Friday (July 25, 1994) at her home.

Born in Hoboken, she lived in Warren for 25 years before moving to Brielle Borough in 1986.

Mrs. Hicinbothem was a receptionist and travel coordinator at Mennen Co., Morristown, for 24 years, retiring in 1989.

Surviving are her husband, George J.; two sons, Franklin os AllenBorough and George D. of Warren; and a daughter, Diane I.

Services will be at 9 a.m. Tuesday from the O'Brien Funeral Home, Wall, followed by a 10 a.m. Mass at St. Denis Roman Catholic Church, Manasquan. Visitation is from 20 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Alice Rebecca Higginbotham, 69, of Altman Terrace Apartments in Atlantic City, died Sunday at home.

She was a domestic in private industry, and was a member of St. John's Baptist Church of Trenton.

Born in Latta, S.C., she moved to Trenton as a young child and lived in Atlantic City for the past 35 years.

Services will be held 11 a.m. Friday at Mikal's Funeral Parlor, 1033 Baltic Ave., Atlantic City, where friends may call after 9 a.m.

Warren C. Higinbotham, Sr., 72, of Upper Deerfield Township, died Saturday at home following an extended illness.

Born in Brownsville, Pa., he moved to Bridgeton in the 1950s, where he lived until moving to Upper Deerfield 20 years ago.

He was working for the Pennsylvania Road Department before moving to Bridgeton, where he was employed ay the Owens-Illinois Glass Company for 29 years. He retired in 1984. He was a member of the Gold Emblem and Quarter Century clubs.

Mr. Higinbotham was a longtime member, deacon and trustee of the First Baptist Church in Bridgeton. He was also a member of the Shoemaker Post #95 American Legion.

He served in the U.S. Army in the 45th Division of the 197th Infantry during World War Two. He received five Bronze Stars and a Bronze Arrowhead during his distinguished career. His hobbies included yard work, gardening and travelling.

Mr. Higinbotham is survived by his wife of 46 years, Erma L. (Randolph); two daughters, Linda L. Bracaliello of Mt. Laurel and Barbara J. Falk of Neshanic Station; one son, Warren C. "Butch" Jr. of Bridgeton; one brother, Dale T. of Ann Marie, Fla. and six grandchildren.

Services will be held at 8 p.m. Tuesday at the First Baptist Church, 136 E. Commerce Street, Bridgeton, where friends may call one half hour before the service. Burial will be in Fernwood Memorial Park, Hopewell Township.

Joseph Roy Higginbotham, 85, of Cape May Court House, died Friday at Burdette Tomlin Memorial Hospital, Cape May Court House.

Mr. Higginbotham was a crane operator at New York Ship Building Corp. in Camden for more than 40 years.

He served in the N.J. National Guard and was member of the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary.

Born in Gloucester City, Mr. Higginbotham lived there before moving to the are about five years ago.

He is survived by his wife, Bette; a son, Joseph J. of Cape May Court House; and a sister, Helen Hartman of Woodbury.

Thomas Higginbotham, 91, of Vineland died Friday at South Jersey Hospital-Newcomb after an extended illness.

Born in Amherst, Va., he was a lifelong Vineland resident. He was the son of the late Zack and Marie Carter Higginbotham. Mr. Higginbotham was co-owner/operator of Z. Higginbotham & Sons of which he operated for more than 60 years. The sanitary contracting business was started by his late father, and his brother still operates it today.

Survivors include his companion of 51 years, Thelma (Wong); a daughter, Miya Miyamoto of Vineland; a brother, Zack Higginbotham of Norma; and two sisters, Ella Robinson and Mamie H. Robb, both of Vineland.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by a twin brother, Wilvon Higginbotham of Bridgeton; maternal grandparents, Jerry and Deborah Surrency Sr. of Vineland; paternal grandparents, William and Vernetta Higginbotham of Vineland; maternal great-grandparents, Eddie and Barbara Surrency, and Herman and Jane Price, all of Bridgeton; paternal great-grandparents, Elizabeth Bowman and Zachary Higginbotham, both of Vineland, and Hazel Higginbotham of Newport; three uncles, Jerry Surrency Jr. of Bridgeton, Bryan Higginbotham of Vineland and Chris Finn of North Bergan; an aunt, Eileen Finn of North Bergan; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Services will be held at noon Wednesday in the Bridgeton Assembly of God, 424 Indian Ave., Bridgeton. Interment will be in Cedar Hill Memorial Park, Hopewell Township. Friends may call after 11 a.m. Wednesday.

She was a homemaker, devoted mother and grandmother, and a beloved great-grandmother.

Mrs. Timpson is survived by her daughter, Mary Elizabeth and her husband Michael Meola of Denville; her sisters, Dorothy Hicinbothem of Parsippany and Frances Calabro of Brick Town; her brother, George Hicinbothem of Brielle; her three grandchildren, James, Michael and Mary; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, Nov. 23, at 9 a.m. at Dangler Funeral Home, 600 Speedwell Ave. at Glenbrook Road, Morris Plains, followed by interment at Fair View Cemetery in Red Bank. Brielle - George Hicinbothem, 81, died Sunday (Jan. 12, 2003) at his home in Brielle.

Born in Neptune, he lived in Warren and Morristown before moving to Brielle in 1986.

He was a director of hospital engineering at Morristown Memorial Hospital, Maimonides Medical Center in Brooklyn and Beth Israel Hospital in New York City. His last place of employment was Morristown Memorial Hospital. His career spanned 30 years and he retired in 1985.

Mr. Hicinbothem was a past president of the New Jersey Hospital Engineers Association.

He was predeceased by his wife, Antoinette (nee Van Springel) Hicinbothem, who died in 1994.

Surviving are his two sons, Franklin J. Hicinbothem of Allentown and George D. Hicinbothem of Warren; a daughter, Diane I. Sanders of West Windsor; and two sisters, Dorothy Hicinbothem of Rainbow Lakes and Frances Calabro of Brick.

Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Friday at Neary-Quinn Funeral Home, 39 South St., Manasquan. Interment will be in Fairview Cemetery, Middletown. Visitation is from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Pahl, Anne Marie, Aged 78 years, passed away peacefully on Tuesday December 2, 2003 at her home in Wiley Christian Retirement Community in Marlton. She formerly lived in Palmyra & Cinnaminson. She worked in the Palmyra School System for many years and was a member of Evangelical Presbyterian Church in Mt. Laurel. Anne was predeceased by her mother, Anna Higginbotham.

She is survived by her beloved husband of 56 years, William T. Pahl, and by her loving children, Willane Szulczewski and her husband, Ray, Terry Pahl and his wife Diane and Eileen James and her husband Dennis. She is also survived by 5 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild, and 3 nieces.

A memorial service will be held at Evangelical Presbyterian Church, Union Mill and Walton Roads, Mt. Laurel, on Sunday, December 7th, 2003 at 2 PM. Burial will follow in the Memorial Garden at Calvary Presbyterian Church, Riverton.

Age 74 of Pittsgrove died at her home on February 4 2005.
The daughter of Nathan and Elizabeth Higginbotham she was a member of Norma Free Will Baptist Church and retired from the Original Elmer Diner after working for 30 years as a waitress.

Her husband Vollie and a brother Edward Magee predeceased her.

Alice M. Nungesser, 76, of Wanamassa, Ocean Township, died Thursday, March 31, at her home. She worked for Monmouth-Ocean Credit Union in Asbury Park for 15 years and retired in 1978. She was a graduate of Asbury Park High School. Born and raised in Asbury Park, she moved to Wanamassa in 1949.

Mrs. Nungesser was predeceased by her parents, Walter and Alice Higinbotham; by her first husband, John E. Garrity, in 1963; by her second husband, George T. Nungesser in 1990; and by a brother, Gerald Higinbotham, in 1993. Surviving are a daughter and son-in-law, Diane and Chas Mayo of Sylvania, Ohio; a son and daughter-in-law, John and Michaelle Garrity of Perrysburg, Ohio; two stepchildren, Thomas Nungesser of Howell, and Penny Jones of Flagler Beach, Fls.; three sisters and two brothers-in-law, Janice and Frank Carpentier, Marilyn Tomaino and Kathy and Jon Harrington, all of Ocean Township; a brother and sister-in-law, John and Marie Higinbotham of Madison; five grandchildren, Jake and Cooper Garrity, and Jenny, Brian and Ali Mayo' four step-grandchildren; 12 nieces and nephews; and her dear caretaker, Merline Johnson.

Ella Robinson, 93, of Vineland, died Sunday, June 19, 2005 in S.J.R.M.C., Vineland. She had been in failing health for the past 2 years.
The wife of the late James William Robinson, she was born in Amherst, Va. and was the daughter of the late Zack and Marie Carter Higginbotham. She had been a resident of Vineland for most of her life.
Mrs. Robinson was a homemaker.
Survivors include: one brother, Zack Higginbotham Jr., Vineland and one sister Mamie Robb, Vineland and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a sister Louise Reed and a brother Thomas Higginbotham.

Cranford - Alice G. Zahorbenski, 75, died June 15, 2005 in the Cornell Hall Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Union.

Born in Avenel, she lived in Linden, Rahway and Lebanon before moving to Cranford a year ago.

Mrs. Zahorbenski was a member of the Methodist Women of the United Methodist Church of Linden.

Surviving are a son, Steven W.; a daughter, Jayne Schnellenberger; a sister, Gertrude Baldwin; a brother, Walter Hicinbothem Jr., and six grandchildren.

Mamie Robb, 92, of Vineland died Wednesday, Nov. 3, 2005, at Rainbow Center in Pittsgrove Township. She had been in failing health for the past six months.

The wife of the late Isaac Robb, she was born in Amhurst, Va., and was the daughter of the late Zack and Marie Higgonbotham. She had been a Vineland resident for most of her life. She had been employed as a salesperson for Blair Co. and Lucky Heart Home Shopping & Sales Co. Mamie had attended Jesus Christ of the Apostolic Faith Church in Clayton.

Survivors include a brother, Zack Higginbotham of Vineland; several nieces and nephews including William and Vernetta Higgonbotham of Vineland; and several cousins.

Graveside funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday in Gouldtown Memorial Park Cemetery, State Highway 49, Gouldtown. The interment will follow the services.There will be no public viewing.

San Diego - Nancy Ann Calby Hicinbothem of San Diego died Wednesday, Jan. 25, 2006 at Scripps-Mercy Hospital in San Diego following a short illness. She was 75.

She was born and raised in Montrose, Pa. and lived most of her adult life in northern New Jersey before retiring to Austin, Texas, and finally to San Diego.

She is survived by her four children, Franklin James Hicinbothem of La Mesa, Calif., Sara Hicinbothem Gerardi of San Diego, Mark Joseph Hicinbothem of Rockaway and Susan Hicinbothem O'Shea of Morristown; and her seven grandchildren.

Mrs. Irene Grace Schottinger (nee Higginbotham), 83, of Lavallette died on Saturday, Oct. 7, 2006, at the Shorrock Gardens Care Center in Brick. A memorial service will be at 9 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 14, 2006, at the Union Church of Lavallette. Timothy E. Ryan Home for Funerals, Lavallette, is in charge of arrangements. Born in Jersey City, Mrs. Schottinger lived in Fanwood before moving to Lavallette in 1980. She spent her winters in Florida. She worked in sales at Sears in Watchung for 20 years. During World War II, she was a Rosie the Riveter at an airplane manufacturing plant in Linden. A member of the Ladies Auxiliary First Aid in Lavallette, Mrs. Schottinger also belonged to the Lavallette Seniors. She loved her friends, going to the beach and riding her bicycle. She was a member of Union Church of Lavallette. Predeceased by her husband, John Joseph, in 1998, and by her son, Matthew J., Mrs. Schottinger is survived by two sons, Mark J. and his wife, Gail, of Wall, and Michael J. and his wife, Silvia, of Lavallette; a daughter, Jennifer Jill MacIntosh and her husband, John P., of Toms River; two sisters, Anna Blasczak of Calif. and Betty Kremer of Va.; eight grandchildren, Mark, Liza, John, Michelle and Monica Schottinger, Chris, Sean and Maureen MacIntosh. Earl Higginbotham of Mount Holly, died Thursday, November 2nd at the Samaritan Hospice Unit at Virtua Hospital in Mount Holly. He was 97. Born in Mount Holly, Mr. Higginbotham was a Technical Sergeant in the U.S. Army in World War II. He received his Engineering Degree from the University of Utah and served as the Burlington County Engineer for many years retiring in 1972. He was a New Jersey Professional Engineer and Land Surveyor, PE&LS #3711 and he owned his own surveying business. He was a former member of the Mount Holly Lions Club and a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. Mr. Higginbotham is survived his his wife of sixty years, Mildred; six children and their spouses, Dick (Katy) Higginbotham of Medford Lakes, Sally W. (Chuck) Rickolt of Ocala, FL., Lois (Shawn) Ritchie of Westampton, David (Laurie) Higginbotham of Westampton, Gary (Shiela) Higgins of Lumberton and Paul (Michele) Higginbotham of Riverside. Also surviving are 20 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and a brother, James (Betty) Higginbotham of Mount Laurel. He was predeceased by a sister, Alfrieda Carr. Dorothy E. Hicinbothem "Miss Hicks" passed away at Merry Heart Nursing Home in Boonton, NJ on November 17, 2006. She was 90 years old.
Born in Newark, NJ she had lived in the Rainbow Lakes section of Parsippany since 1957.
She had received her undergraduate degree from Trenton State University, and her Masters degree from NYU. Dorothy was a school teacher for the Mountain Lakes, NJ Board of Education where she was the creator of the girls athletic league for 35 years before retiring in the 1970s.
She is pre deceased by her siblings Franklin, George and Annabelle.
Her sister Frances Calabro of Bricktown, NJ, and many Nieces, Nephews, Great nieces and nephews and one Great Great Grand nephew survive her.

BOOKER, YVONNE HIGGINBOTHAM, 91 - of Voorhees and formerly of Atlantic City, died Sunday, March 18, 2007, at her home. Mrs. Booker retired in 1979 after decades of employment with the Atlantic City Public Schools as Manager of the Dietary Department. MARY-FRANCES H. KEMPSON, 84, died Friday Aug. 24, in Hanover, N.H. Born in Jersey City, she was a lifelong resident of MIDDLETOWN, and communicant of St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church. She served in the U.S. Navy during WWII. She was an avid reader and history buff, and liked to sew. She moved to Bridgewater, Vt. in 2003.

She was predeceased by her husband, Kenneth G. Kempson. Surviving are four children, Kenneth of Clinton, Ark., Linda Pearson of Interlaken, Robin of Bridgewater, Vt. and Jeffery of Chino Valley, Ariz.; six grandchildren, Tyrel and Kirk Kempson, Karen Morrow, Daniel Pearson and Ryan and Matthew Kempson; four great-grandchildren, Alex Kempson, Riley and Hailey Morrow and Ava Kempson.

Lauren Flint Totty Higginbotham (ca1948-2008) NJ

JERSEY CITY-Services for Lauren F. (Totty) Higginbotham, 60, a lifelong resident of Jersey City, were private. She died May 10 in Jersey City. She worked for 30 years as a legal secretary at New York Law School and for New York City property attorneys Lucas Ferrara and Stuart Adler. In 1961 she replaced Patty Duke in the national tour of "The Miracle Worker." She was a member of Actors' Equity. Surviving are her husband, John; and two sisters, Martha Vilandre and Susan Totty. Janice A. Carpentier, 73, of Ocean Township, passed away Sunday, March 15, 2009, at Monmouth Medical Center, Long Branch, surrounded by her family. She was a bookkeeper for the Cypress Inn and Garrity's Exxon, both Ocean Township for many years. She was a parishioner of St. Mary's Church, Deal and a graduate of Asbury Park High School. Janice was a founder and past president of the Ocean Township Middle School PTA and a member and past president of the Ocean Township Board of Education for 13 years. She was an avid Mets fan and was a longtime league bowler. Born and raised in Asbury Park, she lived most of her life in Ocean Township.

Elizabeth Ilene Higginbotham, nee Hare, 100, formerly of Woodbury passed away Saturday, April 18, 2009 in Rochester Hills, Michigan. She was the beloved wife of Marcus 3rd, who predeceased her in July 1997. Her brother, William J. also predeceased her in September 2003. Her husband and her father, William J. Hare, Sr., were the owners of Hare Motor Company in Paulsboro. Mrs. Higginbotham, born and raised in Westville, was a graduate of Woodbury High School and the University of Pennsylvania. She was a teacher at West End Memorial Elementary School in Woodbury from 1956 to 1973. Prior to her teaching career she was a social worker in Monmouth and Gloucester Counties and buyer for R.H Macy Company in New York City. In 1961 she served on the New Jersey Committee as a member of the White House Council on Aging. She is survived by son, Marcus of Troy, Michigan and son, Richard of Tampa, Florida, five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. A third son, William, of Woodbury predeceased her in August 2002. Interment will be at Calvary Cemetery in Cherry Hill. Services will be private and are under the direction of DAVIS-WAGNER FUNERAL HOME of Woodbury. A memorial service will be scheduled at a future date in 2009 in Woodbury for family and friends to celebrate the lives of Elizabeth, Marcus and William.

FRANKFORD TWP. -- Frank N. Higginbotham, 93, died on Thursday, May 28, 2009, at the home he built and loved. Born in Paterson, Frank was raised in West Milford before moving to Frankford Township in 1971. He was a self-employed Master Carpenter before retiring in 1980. A former Director of Recreation in West Milford, Frank was a charter life member of the West Milford Elks. He was also a life member of NRA, a member of AARP, a former member of the Yulan, New York, Rod & Gun Club, a former member of the Greenwood Lake Rescue Squad, and a former member of the West Milford Police Auxiliary. Frank loved golf, hunting and fishing. The son of the late Frank N. and Leona Wolmart Higginbotham, Frank was also predeceased by his second wife, Sue, in 1984; his son, Frank N. Higginbotham III; and his grandson, Lee Higginbotham Jr. He is survived by his third wife, Maria; two sons, Lee and James, both of Connecticut; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; his first wife, Ruth; a sister, Vera Jones; one nephew, Stephen; and four stepchildren, Elizabeth, Boris, Kathryn, and Dimitrio. HIGGINBOTHAM Charles Bernard Higginbotham, 67, of Neptune, passed away Saturday, September 12, 2009 at Jersey Shore University Medical Center, Neptune. He was born in Ward, W.Va. and has lived in Neptune since 1972. After his service in the U.S. Army during Vietnam, he worked for the Ford Motor Co for 37 years and was a member of the U.A.W. He enjoyed bowling and was also a member of the UAW Bowling League. Charles was predeceased by his father Lucius Lorenzo Higginbotham. Elizabeth "Betty" Higinbotham, 75, of Neptune, died Wednesday, Nov. 11, 2009, at Neptune Rehabitation & Care Center. She was born in St. Lawrence, Pa. and a resident of Neptune for 55 years. She was formerly a teacher for Neptune High School, Holy Innocents School and most recently St. Rose High School in Belmar. She was an communicant and charter member of Holy Innocents Roman Catholic Church and an active member of the St. Vincent DePaul Society and the Rosary Altar Society.
She was predeceased by her loving husband, Gerald Higinbotham; her brother, Henry Leiden; and her parents, Herman and Rose Leiden. Betty is survived by her daughter, Jean Higinbotham of Neptune; two sons, James and his wife Linda of Centreville, Va., and William and his wife Helen of Lake Hiawatha; and loving grandmother of Alison, Nicole, Samantha, Sierra and Kelly. She was an aunt to 21 nieces and nephews, godmother of four and had many cousins and numerous friends.
Her closest relatives include her sister, Patricia Dobrosky and brother, Gerald Leiden, sister-in-law, the late Alice Nunguesser, the late Janice Carpentier, the late Anthony Dobrosky, Frank Carpentier, John and Marie Higinbotham, Marilyn Tomaino, and Kathy and Jonathan Harrington, Geraldine Leiden, Bernadette Leiden.

Hazel Higginbotham, 84, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, June 16, 2011, at her residence after a brief illness. Born in Newport News, Va., to the late James and Mary (Mings) Manson Sr., she was a retired field worker for the housing authority in Massachusetts. Hazel was a devoted member of the Trinity AME Church in Gouldtown. She was an avid reader who enjoyed sewing and spending time with her friends and family. Hazel leaves to cherish her memories to three sons, William (Vernetta) Higginbotham, Mark Higginbotham and David Higginbotham; one brother, William Manson; two sisters, Lillian Gould and Virginia Mosley; a special niece and caretaker, Paulette Williams; four grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren; and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Mildred (Grimditch) Higginbotham, formerly of Mt. Holly, passed away on Friday, Nov. 11, 2011 at Virtua Health & Rehab Center in Lumberton. She was 88. Born in National Park, she had previously shared her time with her husband between Mt. Holly and Beverly Hills, Fla. A member of the Order of Eastern Star, Mildred was a Church Elder and longtime member of the Mt. Holly First Presbyterian Church. While in Florida, she had also spent many hours volunteering at the local hospital. She was the wife of the late Earl Higginbotham. She is survived by her four children: Lois Ritchie (Shawn), David Higginbotham (Laurie), Gary Higgins (Sheila), and Paul Higginbotham (Michele); two step-children, Richard Higginbotham (Katy), and Sally Rickolt (deceased Chuck);16 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; one sister, Frances Ball; two half-sisters, Doris Kellum and Elaine Uhlmann; and a half-brother, Leonard Grimditch Jr. Funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday at the Perinchief Chapels, 438 High St., Mt. Barbara E. Higginbotham (nee Glisan), 80, of Hopewell Township died early Saturday morning, Nov. 19, 2011, while surrounded by her family. She was born in Uniontown, Pa., on Oct. 12, 1931 and was the daughter of the late Frank and Hazel Baker Glisan. A graduate of Redstone High School (PA), Mrs. Higginbotham was the widow of George E. Higginbotham, who died in 1980. A longtime resident of Hopewell Township, she attended the Cumberland County Vocational and Technical School following her husband's death and received training as a nurse's aide. She later earned her certification as a Certified Nurses' Assistant and for 27 years was employed at Renaissance Nursing Home (now SJ Extended Care) in Bridgeton. Several years ago she also worked as an aid in the Hopewell School cafeteria. Mrs. Higginbotham was an active member of the First Baptist Church in Bridgeton. She served as a Deaconess, a Sunday school teacher and member of the church's social committee. She also helped with the church nursery. Active with the Hopewell/Stow Creek Fire Company, Mrs. Higginbotham served as the president of the ladies auxiliary for several years. She is survived by two daughters, Barbara E. Newkirk and her husband, Dale of Hopewell Township, Deborah L. Martindale and her husband, Don of Upper Deerfield Twp.; six grandchildren, Kenneth Newkirk (Pam), Richard Newkirk, Amy Corson (Irving III), Stacey Moreno (Bryan), Farin Martindale (fiance' Peter Kuhl) and Ashlee Goffredi (David); six great-grandchildren, Samantha and Jacob Newkirk, Julia and Christopher Moreno, Madison Corson, Gabriel Goffredi, one sister, Faye Fuller of Jessup, Md.; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a great-grandson, Kenneth D. Newkirk Jr.; a sister, Jean Newkirk; and two brothers, Cecil and James Glisan. Another sister, Lois E. Seaton, died early yesterday morning. EWING - William "Teddy" Higginbotham, 71, of Ewing Township, passed away peacefully on Mar. 9, 2012, at Samaritan Hospice at Virtua Memorial Hospital in Mount Holly. Born and educated in Trenton, William was a lifelong Trenton and Ewing resident. He was an honorably discharged United States Army veteran. He was a Certified Welder and retired as a Sheet Metal Worker with Local Union No. 27 in 2003. He was a volunteer for hospice and a devoted pastoral aide at various hospitals and nursing homes for more than 12 years. Predeceased by his parents, William and Eartha Higginbotham, surviving are his wife, Rosiland; two daughters, Lesha and Marsha; a son, Irven; nine grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren; four brothers, Reginald (Bonnie) of Browns Mills, Moses of Hamilton, Reed and Monroe both of Ewing; a sister, Joy of Ewing, a special cousin, Delores Murray; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends including his loyal and loving dog, "Poochie." Frances Ellen Calabro (nee Hicinbothem), 97, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, Oct. 3, 2012, surrounded by her loving family. Frances was born in Newark and grew up in Hoboken, where she was the valedictorian of the A.J. Demarest High School, Class of 1932. She and her husband raised their family in Hoboken, and enjoyed summers in Brielle. Frances worked at the Red Cross and as a home economics teacher in Hoboken, and spent 17 years as a research clerk for a rare books company, before moving to Brick in 1983.

Frances was predeceased by her beloved husband, Salvatore "Yorke" Calabro, four siblings and a granddaughter, Judy Nardone. She is survived by her son, Arthur Yorke Calabro and his wife Jo Anne; daughters, Carol Demarest and her husband George, and Theresa Nardone and her husband John; four granddaughters, Karyn Cusanelli, Debra Abruzzi, Beth Nardone- Troast, and Danielle Nardone-Lithgow; and four great-grandchildren, Marissa Cusanelli, Gianna Cusanelli, Benjamin Troast and Sydney Lithgow.

"Franee" was an incredibly giving woman, continuously donating to worthwhile causes and helping those in need. Her easy smile stayed with her always, and she enjoyed her family, music (especially Sinatra) and Manhattans, even at her advanced age. Franee will be greatly missed by her loving family, but her memory and traditions will carry on, and always bring a smile.

TRENTON - Dwayne Higginbotham, 50, of Trenton, departed this life on Sunday, June 16, 2013, at Capital Health Regional Medical Center, Trenton. Born in Trenton, Mr. Higginbotham was educated in the Trenton public school system. He graduated from Trenton Central High School. Mr. Higginbotham served three years in the U.S. Army and was honorably discharged as an E-4 Specialist. Thereafter, he worked for Educational Testing Service for a few years. Jones - Vera M. (nee Higginbotham), 90, of New Port Richey, FL, died peacefully on September 22. She grew up in Greenwood Lake and graduated from Butler HS. She was married to the late Lt. Col. John L. Jones for 47 years. They lived in Wayne, then moved to Medford, NJ and retired to Florida in 1976. Vera was predeceased by a son, John and a brother, Frank. PENNINGTON - Russell William Higginbottom, 102, died on May 18, 2014, at St. Joseph's Care Center, Lawrenceville, with his daughter by his side. Born and raised in Millbury, MA, he graduated from Clark University in 1933 with a degree in chemistry, and continued his education to become an electrical engineer. Following his marriage to Barbara Dedicke in 1941, they lived in Sutton, MA, before moving to Pennington in 1952. Russ worked at Roebling Steel from 1952 to 1955, when he began working at Triangle Wire and Cable Company in New Brunswick, where he was employed as technical director for many years. With a strong work ethic, he continued to work as a consultant into his 90s. Russ was active in many professional organizations, including ASTM, ICEA, IEEE, NEMA and NFPA. In addition, Russ was a longtime member and former deacon of the Pennington Presbyterian Church; a member of the Pennington Lions Club and Pennington Players, and former president of the Pennbrook Club. An avid reader, Russ also enjoyed working outdoors, gardening, vacations in Greensboro, VT, and time spent with family and friends. Always positive and kind, he truly loved life and will be greatly missed. Russ was predeceased by his parents, John William and Gertrude Russell Higginbottom; his six sisters, Gertrude Hult, Jane Werme, Florence Aldrich, Maude Haverty, Frances Hurley, and Dorothy Higginbottom; his wife, Barbara Higginbotton; his son, Jeffrey Higginbottom; and special golden lady, "Molly." He is survived by his daughter, Andrea Higginbottom; and nieces and nephews. Collingswood-JoAnn Stotsenburg (nee Higginbotham), age 73 passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones on October 12, 2014. JoAnn was a long term resident of Deptford and formerly of Gloucester City. She lived her last months in Collingswood. JoAnn is predeceased by her husband, George T Stotsenburg of Deptford, NJ her parents Ira and Annie Higginbotham, three siblings, Jane Alexander, Sarah King and Leonard Higginbotham as well as two of her children Michael K Root and Melissa Stotsenburg. Parsippany-Marianne A. (nee-Polk) Higginbotham passed away on Friday, November 28th 2014 at Saint Clares Hospital in Denville. Marianne was born and raised in Jersey City. Dr. Mary Higginbotham Beaven, 78, of Teaneck, New Jersey, formerly of Kenilworth, Illinois, July 18, 2015. Mary taught English at New Trier High School, Waters High School as well as Carleton Washburn, all in Illinois. Following her masters and doctorate from Northwestern University, she taught at Northwestern University, Indiana University, University of Massachusetts, Virginia Commonwealth University, and Fairleigh Dickinson University. Mary's career concluded as the Master of Business Administration program director at Fairleigh University. She was regularly published, received much recognition for her pioneering works. She was a fighter on behalf of all who faced injustice. Mary was an opera and ballet lover, enjoyed spending time with family and friends, and had a wonderful smile that would light up a room. Clyde S. 'Spike' Higginbotham Jr. of Burlington, passed away at home last week. He was 56.
Born in Trenton, Clyde graduated from Trenton Central High School. He served honorably in the U.S. Army from 1977 to 1984. Thereafter, he attended Mercer County Community College. Clyde was employed as a New Jersey State Trooper for over 28 years and until his retirement in 2014 as a sergeant.
Clyde was a Trustee at the VFW Post 7298 on Green Lane in Ewing, N.J. and a member of the Grand Lodge of California of Free & Accepted Masons P.H.A..
Clyde was preceded in death by his father, Clyde S. Higginbotham Sr.; and brothers, Dwayne Higginbotham and Clyde Higginbotham II. He leaves to cherish his memories his mother, Joyce Ann Higginbotham of Trenton; daughters, Dionne and Nicole Higginbotham of Burlington; four brothers, Arnold, Byron, Eric and Farrell Higginbotham, all of Trenton; sister, Karen Higginbotham-Fuller of California; aunt, Elaine Robinson of Trenton; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Pittsgrove Twp. - Mary J. Papillo-Higginbotham, 89, of the Norma section of Pittsgrove Twp. passed away on Sunday November 24, 2019 at home where she had been under the care of family, Griswold Home Care and Bayada Hospice. Mary was born in Hartford, CT and was a lifelong resident of Pittsgrove Twp.
Until her health failed, Mary was the President & Owner/Operator of MJP Enterprises. She operated in office/business equipment, storage, real estate and refuse hauling company. She was an ordained minister and also in her earlier years worked as a bookkeeper and as a real estate agent with Lewis DeMarco at Bray & Mac George Insurance & Real Estate Agency in Vineland.
She is survived by her husband; Zack Higginbotham, Jr., two grandchildren, Robin and husband Jim Raineri and Robert and wife Susan Young as well as several nieces & nephews

Ruthie Mae Moton Hickenbottom (1937-2021) AL/NJ
December 28, 1937 - September 13, 2021

Ruthie was born in Camden, Alabama on December 28, 1937, to Charity Ann Cochran and James Moton. In the south, Ruthie was affectionately called Buut. Ruthie married the love of her life Sammie “Cricket” Hickenbottom on March 21, 1960. Their union brought forth the adoring Sophia, Eugene, Catherine, Gwendolyn, Sammie, Kerry, Daisy, and Cynthia.
Ruthie was the matriarch of the Hickenbottom/Cochran family. She was the epitome of a mother and loved being a homemaker and caring for her children. At times, it seemed like she ruled with an iron fist, but she was the most loving, nurturing, and caring mother.
In the early 70’s, Ruthie traded in her southern scenery for a life up north in Morristown, New Jersey to join her brother Herbert, where she lived the remainder of her life. She traveled with two of her daughters Cathy and Daisy with the rest of her children following once she got settled into her new normal. Ruthie loved to talk on the phone with family and friends for hours. When she wasn’t talking, she was an amazing cook that enjoyed making her signature dishes like her mouthwatering collard greens, delicious cornbread stuffing and sweet potato pies that melt in your mouth.
As a mother to six daughters, Ruthie took pride in doing their hair and made sure they were dressed to the nines. She had so much style and grace with an eye for fashion, but she also enjoyed being on the back of a motorcycle too! Oh, how she loved to dance, and she would stop what she was doing to two-step to Stevie Wonder’s That Girl.
Ruthie became a grandmother in 1974. She doted on her grandchildren and enjoyed every precious moment with them. As they got older, she treasured their visits and loved sharing stories with them.
Ruthie loved to watch her soap operas and if you visited her during the day, you would find yourself watching them too. Southern hospitality was always extended when you entered her home. It was highly recommended you take a seat and accept whatever she offered you. Our precious mother, Ruthie Mae Hickenbottom, departed her loving family on September 13, 2021. Her presence in the family will be missed deeply.
She was preceded by her loving husband, Sammie; her parents: Charity Ann Cochran and James Moton; her brothers: James and Herbert; her sisters: Laura, and Eddie Mae; her daughter: Kerry Ann; her grandson: Eugene “Lil Gene” Friday; and her son-in-law: Nelson Rogers.
She leaves to cherish her precious memories; her loving children, Sophia (Quinton) Justice, Eugene (Tracey) Cochran, Catherine Rogers, Sammie (Anise), Gwendolyn (Anthony) Crosby, Daisy and Cynthia (Jason) Francis. Zack Higginbotham, Jr. (1925-2022) VA/NJ
Pittsgrove - Zack Higginbotham, Jr., 96, of the Norma section of Pittsgrove Twp. passed away on Monday afternoon January 10, 2022 at the Inspira Medical Center, Vineland, NJ after being in failing health. Zack was born in Amherst, VA and was a lifelong resident of the Vineland/Norma area. He was pre deceased by his wife Mary J. Papillo, daughter Donna, son Wayne, 3 sisters & 1 brother.
Zack was a U.S. Navy veteran of WW II. He received the American Theatre & European Theatre ribbon with 2 stars, Presidential citation, Asiatic Pacific & Victory Medal. After his military service Zack began work as a truck driver. He started his own hauling & refuse company in 1950 which he operated until retiring in 2015.
He is survived by two sons; William & Donald Higginbotham, step granddaughter & caregiver Robin Raineri, as well as several grandchildren, nieces & nephews

Joan H. Riddell of Mt. Laurel, NJ passed away on Sunday, January 16, 2022 after a brief illness. She was born July 8, 1939 in Marlton NJ to the late S. Linford and Ruth Forvour Higginbotham. She is predeceased by her son-in-law Frank Panzone Jr. Joan is survived by her husband of 63 years, James Riddell Sr. and their children, Joyce Panzone, James Riddell Jr. and wife Patti, Sheri Mitchell and husband Chris. Lillian “Lil” Higginbotham was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. She passed away peacefully on January 13, 2022. Born to the late Albert and Mary Kinney on May 31, 1940, she was the oldest of five children. After graduating from Palisades High School, she went on to work for various companies, including Southland Corporation (7-11) and the Mount Holly Water Company. Lil enjoyed painting, reading, dancing, and growing plants. She loved the holidays and family gatherings. She loved celebrations which is why she made sure that every member of the family received a birthday card. It was known throughout the family that it wasn’t truly your birthday until you received your card from Aunt Lil. Her biggest wish in life was to someday open a Bed & Breakfast. Unfortunately, she never had the chance to fulfill that dream. Lillian is survived by her two children, Brian Higginbotham and Barbara Matott; her sisters Patricia Voorhees and Sue Freeman; her brothers Jeff Kinney and John Kinney (Jo); as well as many nieces, nephews and many friends. Edith J. Higginbotham (nee Dickson), age 93 of Collingswood, passed away on Wednesday, July 20, 2022, after a brief illness. Mrs. Higginbotham was born in and had been a lifetime Gloucester City neighbor and homemaker. She was tough cookie who took care of her family. Edith was independently active and had been an avid bowler at Westbrook Lanes in Brooklawn for over 50 years. In her younger years, she volunteered her time as part of the Highland Park Fire Co. Ladies Auxiliary in Gloucester City. She was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church in Gloucester City, then St. Luke’s Lutheran Church in Collingswood. She loved watching & cheering for the Philadelphia Phillies and Eagles. She enjoyed keeping a tidy house, crocheting, shopping, going to craft shows & taking road trips. She also loved going on vacations, in the states & abroad. Mrs. Higginbotham was predeceased by her childhood sweetheart & dear husband of 47 years, James W. Higginbotham. She is survived by her children; Lynn & her husband Walter Garson, James & his wife Linda and Helen & her husband Robert Grzib. She is the proud grandmother of Heather, Scott, Lee, Carol, Jamey, Adam, Edward, Kelly, 17 great grandchildren and 4 great, great grandchildren. Edith is also survived and will be sadly missed by her sister Helen Crispin as well as her nieces and nephews. Jean Higinbotham, 64, of North Brunswick passed away on Sunday, November 27, 2022.
Jean was born and raised in Neptune NJ. She graduated from Neptune High School and then Douglass College in New Brunswick. While in college, she was the manager of the wrestling team. She let her creativity shine through her many crafts and projects.
She worked mainly in banking and most recently in the South Brunswick court system. She lived for the past 10 years in North Brunswick.
Jean was predeceased by her parents, Gerald and Elizabeth Higinbotham. She is survived by her two brothers, Bill Higinbotham of Long Valley and Jim Higinbotham of North Carolina, and her beloved nieces Alison, Nicole, Sierra, Samantha, and Kelly. She loved grandnieces Aurora and Blair and grandnephews Liam and Robert. She also leaves behind many cherished friends.
