Word was received in Kansas City, Kansas, today of the death last night in Knoxville, Tenn. of Mrs. Louise Hazen, 21 years old, wife of George Herbert Hazen, Jr., a former resident of Kansas City, Kansas, who is an engineer on government TVA developments near Knoxville.

Mr. and Mrs. Hazen of La Follette, Tenn., were married October 15, 1933, at the home of Mr. Hazen's father, George H. Hazen, Sr., 1018 Rowland avenue, Kansas City, Kansas. The younger Mr. Hazen was then a senior engineering student at the University of Kansas.

Besides her husband, Mrs. Hazen leaves and infant daughter, Winifred Louise Hazen; her parents, Mrs. and Mrs. W.A. Higginbotham, La Follette, Tenn., and two brothers and a sister, also of La Follette. Burial will be in La Follette.

Mr. Higginbotham Dies Thursday; Rites Saturday

William Henry Higginbotham, 83 year-old retired Warren county farmer, died at the home of a son, Clarence Higginbotham, in West Riverside Thursday evening at 10:30 o'clock.

He had been ill four months and had been blind for the past twenty years.

Funeral rites were held Saturday morning at 11 o'clock at Shellsford Baptist Church. Rev. John S. Trent, the minister, officiated and burial was in Shellsford cemetery.

Mr. Higginbotham was born in Warren County November 11, 1868. He was a son of Mr. & Mrs. Jonathan (Aaron) Higginbotham and he married to Miss Elizabeth Bush (Bost), who preceded him in death.

Mr. Higginbotham was a member of the Baptist Church.

In addition to his son, with whom he made his home, Mr. Higginbotham is survived by another son, Walter Higginbotham, McMinnville; two daughters, Mrs. Charles W. Conlin, McMinnville, and Mrs. R.J. Seals, Ft. Worth, Texas; one sister, Mrs. Jennie Rowan, Nashville, three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

The body of Mrs. Ruth Higginbotham, 37, of Riverhead, N.Y., who died Tuesday at her home of a heart attack, will arrive in Johnson City by train at 10:30 a.m. Saturday.

The body will then be taken directly to Gunnings Cemetery, where graveside services will be conducted by Dr. E. Gibson Davis.

Survivors include her husband, Sgt. G. W. Higginbotham, with the US Army at Suffolk County Air Base, Riverhead, N.Y.; five brothers, Troy M. Price of Kingsport, Tam B. Price of Brooklyn, W.H. Price of New Albany, Ind., Thomas W. and Charles J. Price of Dayton, Ohio; three sisters, Mrs. Albert Hall of Hampton, Va., Mrs. Paul Onkoniz and Mrs. Henry Maupin of Kingsport.

A former Wayne Countian, Miss Olivia Higginbotham of Spring Hill, Tennessee, died at her home. She is survived by her mother, Mrs. Paulina Higginbotham, Spring Hill, 3 sisters, Mrs. Eugene Pierceson, Nashville Tenn., Mrs. Sherwin Witt, and Miss Evelyn Higginbotham both of Spring Hill,
Tenn., and one brother, Mr. Elsie Higginbotham, also of Spring Hill. Her father, W. W. Higginbotham preceded her in death two months ago.
She has numerous relatives and friends here who will be sorry to learn of her death.
The funeral was held at the Higginbotham home in Spring Hill.

Pauline J. Shearer Higginbotham (1877-1958) KY/TN
Mrs. W. W. Higginbotham of Spring Hill, Tennessee, passed away at her home Friday.
She was the former Paulina Shearer, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. M. F. Shearer of Wayne County. She is survived by one son, Essie Higginbotham; three daughters, Mrs. Sherman Witt and Miss Evelyn Higginbotham of Spring Hill and Mrs. Eugene Pierson of Nashville. She is survived by one brother, Mr. W. G. Shearer of Monticello.
Funeral services were conducted Saturday afternoon at 3 00 o'clock at Spring Hill with burial there.

Funeral services for Mrs. Maria Manier Higgenbotham, 84, were held Sunday at Hooper & Huddleston with burial in McBroom Cemetery. John A Chalk officiated.
Mrs. Higgenbotham, widow of Aaron Armstrong Higgenbotham, died at Master's Rest Home on Friday.
She was a native of Putnam County, daughter of Thomas and Matilda Burgess Manier and was a member of the Church of Christ.
She is survived by a son, Harvey Higgenbotham of Cookeville and a half-brother, Chester Clemons of Double Springs.

Mrs. W.B. Higginbotham, 102, Kingston, Tenn., formerly of Ansted (W.Va.), died Saturday morning in the home of a daughter, Mrs. J.R. Heffner, Kingston.

, she was born Feb. 27, 1866. She was a member of the Presbyterian church.

Also surviving are two other daughters, Mrs. Rachel Ferguson, Maryville, Tenn., and Mrs. John A. Martindale, Ansted; four grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

A Chattanooga woman driving home with her husband on a downtown street in Chattanooga was shot and killed Sunday, the innocent victim of a bullet-ridden family feud, police said. Mrs. Willa Higginbotham, 33, died of a bullet to the head Sunday while driving her husband home down Ninth Street, where police said several relatives were arguing and shooting outside. Ira Thomas, Jr., 42, of Chattanooga , has been charged in the slaying. Police said seven shots had been fired from two guns during the skirmish, a stray bullet killing Mrs. Higginbotham.

Mrs. Estelle E. Tarver, 78, of 5062 Dianne Drive, widow of Willie B. Tarver, at 5:30 p.m. yesterday at Yalobusha County Hospital in Water Valley, Miss. She was a member of Greenbrook Baptist Church in Southaven. She leaves a daughter, Mrs. Mildred Meggs of Memphis; three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Memphis Funeral Home on Union.

Mrs. Hollie Higginbotham, 81-year-old-resident of Route 9, died at 5 p.m. Friday in McMinnville Health Care Center. Mrs. Higginbotham was a homemaker and member of the Shellsford Baptist Church.

She was the daughter of the late Harvey and Linda (Kell) Hillis. She was the wife of Clarence H. Higginbotham who survives. Other survivors are three brothers and three sisters, Leroy, Thomas M., and Asa Kell, all of McMinnville, Mrs. Lucille Grisson of Rock Island, Mrs. Mary Julian of Orlando, Fla., and Mrs. Betty Upton of McMinnville.

The service was held at 2 p.m. Sunday in Shellsford Baptist Church. Don Owens and John Turner officiating. Burial followed in Shellsford Cemetery.

Charles Essie Higginbotham, age 80, of Spring Hill, Tennessee, died Thursday, June 17 at Franklin Health Care Center. Mr. Higginbotham was the brother in law of Mrs. Howard Wright and Mrs. Leland Tate and Ray Jones of Monticello.
Funeral services were held Friday at Franklin Memorial Chapel with W.D. Brewer and Robert Kerce officiating. Burial was in Mt Hope Cemetery.
He was a member of Beech Grove Church of Christ, a retired farmer and a Kentucky native.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Leona Higginbotham; three daughters, Mrs. Charles (Helen) McMeen, Spring Hill, Mrs. Wayne (Eva) Hardison, Columbia and Mrs. Lloyd (Glena) Royse, New Providence, N.J.; two sisters, Mrs. Eugene (Ora) Pearson, North Carolina and Mrs. S.E. Roy Alfred Higginbotham Jr., 61, of Memphis, died Wednesday at his home of an apparent heart attack. Services will be at 3 p.m. today at Forest Hill Cemetery Midtown. Memphis Funeral Home Poplar Chapel has charge. He was a Mason, a Korean War veteran and an Episcopalian. He leaves his wife, Loretta H. Higginbotham; three daughters, Mrs. .Barbara Anne Craft and Mrs. Debbie Henry, both of Gastonia, N.C., and Mrs. Lisa Higginbotham of Boston; a stepdaughter, Mrs. Linda H. Bomar of Dallas; a son, Haines Higginbotham of Gastonia, N.C.; a sister, Mrs. Virginia Miller and a brother, Larry Higginbotham, both of Memphis; three grandchildren and two stepgrandchildren.

SELMER - John N. Higginbottom, 81, retired farmer and school bus driver, died Saturday at McNairy County General Hospital.

Mr. Higginbottom, the husband of Annie Mae Higginbottom, also leaves a daughter, Wilma Russom of Milan; four sisters, Edna Tull, Lockie Mitchell, Lavara 'Doll' Hurst and Julia Reedy, all of Selmer; a brother, S. E. Higginbottom of Selmer, three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Anna R. Sell, 68, Greenvale, Tenn., a former Kansas City Business owner, died Jan. 31, 1993, at a hospital in Greenvale. Services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Newcomer's Floral Hills Chapel; burial in Floral Hills Cemetery, Kansas City. Friends may call from noon to 1 p.m. Wednesday at the chapel. The family suggests no flowers and suggests contributions to the Salvation Army in Kansas City.

Miss Sell was a beautician and owned Anna's Beauty Shop in PArkville, retiring in 1984. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star in Parkville. She was a Methodist.

She was born in Aaron, Ky., and lived in Kansas City most of her life, before moving to Louisville, Ky. in 1984. She moved to Greenvale in 1987. Her husband, Evert Sell, died in the late 1970s.

Survivors include her brother, Robert Higginbotham, Louisville; three sisters, Frances Laws, Greenvale, Vivene H. Cash, Burkesville, Ky., and Gay Dyer, Evanston, Ind.

Marguerite Hickenbottom, 67, Route 2, Morrison, Tenn., a homemaker, died yesterday at her home. Services 3 p.m. tomorrow, McMinnville Funeral Home. Survivors: son, Ray Hickenbottom; daughters, Kay Green and Cathy Cagle, all Morrison; brother, Norman Eberhardt, Valparaiso, Ind.; seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

SELMER - Annie M. Higginbottom, 77, homemaker, died Tuesday at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital after a heart attack. Services will be at 1 p.m. today at Shackelford Funeral Home here with burial in Lake Hill Memory Gardens near Bethel Springs. She was a member of Rose Creek United Methodist Church near here, the Order of the Eastern Star and the Home Demonstration Club. Mrs. Higginbottom, the widow of John N. Higginbottom, leaves a daughter, Wilma Russom of Milan; a sister, Alene Holmes of Lexington, three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

David Andrew Higingbottom, 23, Erin, died Saturday, Jan. 13, 1996, in Nashville, of injuries received in an automobile accident.

The funeral will be 10 a.m. Monday at Nave Funeral Home, Erin, with the Rev. Robert Mitchell officiating. Burial will be in Fletcher Cemetery, Cumberland City.

Visitation will be at the funeral home from 2:30 to 9 p.m. today and 8 a.m. Monday until the hour of service.

He was born Sept. 18, 1972, in Chattanooga, son of David Marion Higingbottom and Robin Lee Six. He was an auto mechanic.

BOBBIE SUE HIGGINBOTHAM, 56, of Millington, seamstress for Serta Mattress Co., died of cancer Thursday at Methodist Hospital North. Services will be at 2 p.m. today at Munford (Tenn.) Funeral Home with burial in Poplar Grove Cemetery in Drummonds , Tenn. She was a member of Full Gospel Tabernacle. Mrs. Higginbotham, the wife of James T. Higginbotham, also leaves two daughters, Stephanie Bayless of Eudora, Miss., and Beverly Whitecotton of Memphis; a son, James T. Higginbotham Jr. of Eudora; two sisters, Mary Katherine Carroll of Water Valley, Miss., and Lida Mae Joyner of Atoka, Tenn.; four brothers, Hubert Mason of Drummonds, and Earskine L. Mr. Higgenbotham died on Friday, Jan. 1, 1999, at Alvin C. York VA Medical Center.

He was born on May 21, 1929, in Putnam County to the late Harvey and Mable Masters Higgenbotham. Mr. Higgenbotham was a CPA and cattleman. He was a member of Bangham Heights Baptist Church. He also served in the Marine Corp. during the Korean Conflict.

His family includes his wife, Billie D. Wright Higgenbotham of Cookeville; a son and daughter-in-law, Shane and Dee Higgenbotham of Cookeville; a daughter and son-in-law, Vickie and Clay Kearley of Knoxville; a sister and brother-in-law, Ruby and Haskell Rector of Cookeville; two brothers and sisters-in-law, T.J. and Jean Higgenbotham of Crossville, and Millis and Sharon Higgenbotham of Cookeville; a granddaughter, Heather Higgenbotham; a stepgranddaughter, Holly Lynn; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Anna Williams, Helen and Allen Coker, Porter Wright, Jessie and Becky Wright, Thomas and Wilma Helen Wright, all of Cookeville, Janice Wright of Nashville, Charles and Jo Nelda Wright of Sparta, Maxine Prewitt of Cleveland, Ohio, Glenda Sue Smith of Salt Lake City, Utah, and Shirley Smith of Seattle, Wash.; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Elizabeth Anne Pidkowicz Higginbotham, 44, of Oak Ridge, died Friday, Aug. 13, 1999, at Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge. Mrs. Higginbotham was a homemaker and a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church. She was also a member of the Oak Ridge High School Boosters Club. She was born in Bossier City, La., on July 20, 1955, the daughter of Joseph and Anne Hagen Pidkowicz, now of Oak Ridge. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Higginbotham is survived by her husband, Roger Higginbotham; her son, Joshua Roger Higginbotham of Oak Ridge; two brothers, Kevin Pidkowicz and his wife, Peggy, of San Diego, Calif., and Patrick Pidkowicz and his wife, Gale, of Collierville; and three sisters, Anne Felicia Pidkowicz of Oliver Springs and Suzanna Wilson and Katie Carden, both of Knoxville. She is also survived by her brother-in-law, Jerry R. Higginbotham and his wife of Washington; her sister-in-law, Patricia A. Johnson of Knoxville; and by many nieces and nephews. Donald Joe Higginbotham (1953-2001) TN/FL
PLANT CITY, Fla. — Donald Joe Higginbotham, 48, Plant City, Fla., died here Sunday, Sept. 9, 2001.
He was a Johnson City, Tenn., native and had lived in Florida for the past several years. Mr. Higginbotham was a son of Don and Betty Garland Higginbotham.
He graduated from Happy Valley High School, Elizabethton. Mr. Higginbotham was an Air Force veteran, having served in the special forces. He was employed by J.P. Morgan Chase Security.
Survivors, in addition to his parents, include one brother, Mike Higginbotham, Johnson City; two nieces, Amy Kuntz, Johnson City, and Brandy Curd, Piney Flats, Tenn.; one nephew, Christopher Higginbotham, Johnson City; and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.

PEARL HIGGINBOTHAM, 97, of Memphis, homemaker, died Thursday at her home of complications of a stroke. Services were Monday at Memphis Funeral Home Poplar Chapel with burial in Memphis Memory Gardens. She was a member of Merton Avenue Baptist Church and attended Cherry Road Baptist Church. Mrs. Higginbotham, the widow of Kyle Higginbotham, leaves three daughters, Marie Horton and Florayne Scipper, both of Memphis, and Reba Dill of Basin, Wyo.; a sister, Ruby Jones of Oxford, Miss., eight grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, two step-great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandchild. Myrtle Cable Higginbotham, formerly of Carter County, died after an extended illness of cancer. She was the daughter of the late William and Edna Clawson Guy of Elk Mills. FISHERVILLE, Tenn. — Ida Abbie Higginbotham, 77, of Fisherville, and formerly of Dover, N.H., died Tuesday, Jan. 8, 2002, at the Cordova Rehab in Cordova.
She is survived by her daughter, Dianne Loff of Arlington, Texas; a son, Wesley R. Osborn Jr. of Memphis; sisters, Sally Sullivan and Minnie Burchette of Dover, Anna Statom of Muncie, Ind., and Nellie Mersereau of Boston, Mass.; brothers, Gus, Butch, Sam and Bill David, all of Dover; and three grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her husband, Robert H. Higginbotham.

James B. Higginbotham (1924-2002) TN
McMinnville resident and Warren County native J.B. Higginbotham, 77, died March 4 at his home after a six-week illness. A farmer, he was the son of Marion Samuel and Lettie Scott Higginbotham; and was preceded in death by his wife, Theta Rose Arney in 1979; and sister, Delia Chastain. Christiana resident and Warren County native James Leland Higginbotham, 84, died Aug. 21.
A retired merchant marine engineer and a member of the First Presbyterian Church, he was the son of the late Charlie and Ada Mai Farless Higginbotham; and was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Graham Gordon Higginbotham in 1989.
He is survived by son and daughter-in-law, Henry and Dianne Higginbotham of Christiana; and granddaughter, Raven Grey Higginbotham of Christiana.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at Woodfin Memorial Chapel in Murfreesboro with Mark Karki officiating. Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Woodfin.

Morterman Braxton Higginbotham, a former Bronson resident, died Sunday at his home in Spring City, Tenn. He was 81.
Mr. Higginbotham was born in Gadston, Ala., and was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, a 32nd-degree mason and a Baptist.
Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Rebecca Leigh Higginbotham of Spring City, Tenn.; sons Randy Higginbotham and Dennis Higginbotham, both of Spring City, Grady Higginbotham of Duluth, Ga., and Arthur Higginbotham of Orlando; a sister, Dorothy Davis of Prospect Heights, Ill.; brothers Arthur Higginbotham of Ponce Inlet and Jack Higginbotham of Addison, Ill.; and six grandchildren.

Mrs. Higgenbotham died on Thursday, Aug. 7, 2003, at Bethesda Health Care Center.
She was born on Aug. 29, 1921, in the Brotherton Community to the late John and Mattie Hall Burris.
Mrs. Higgenbotham established the Dipsy Doodle Restaurant in Cookeville in 1948, which is now listed as a historic area. She also owned Dipsy Doodle #2 and one additional restaurant. Mrs. Higgenbotham was also owner and operator of her beauty salon. She was a member of Gold Star,
which is Widows of World War II Veterans. She was a past member of Eastwood Baptist Church.
Her family includes two daughters and sonsinlaw, Barbara A. and Sam M. Vaughn and Janice M. and James Dilmon (Jimmy) Carter, all of Brentwood; four grandchildren, Rhonda A., Richard H. and Thom Carter and Lee Vaughn; 11 great grandchildren; and four greatgreatgrandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three husbands, Clarence Lee Phillips, Fred L. Rizzo and Hubert Higgenbotham.

Wilma Jane Adkins Higginbotham (1926-2004) TN
ERWIN — Wilma Jane Higginbotham, 77, formerly of 417 Union St., Erwin, died Tuesday, February 10, 2004, at the Center on Aging and Health, Erwin.
She was a Yancey County native and was a daughter of the late Park and Roba Honeycutt Adkins. She was the manager of the Erwin Motel for 21 years before her retirement. She was a member of Evergreen Freewill Baptist Church. Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Higginbotham, and one brother, Reece Adkins.
Survivors include Two Sisters: Mildred Franklin, Lawrenceville, GA, Lora Adkins, Burnsville; Special Daughter-in-Christ: Pauline Davis; One Niece: Lena Perry, Lawrenceville, GA; Four Nephews: Jim Franklin, Chatsworth, GA, Johnny Adkins, North Carolina, Warren Adkins, Virginia, Jerry Adkins, Spruce Pine, NC; Several Great-Nieces and Great-Nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 8:00 P.M. Friday, February 13, 2004, in the Chapel of Valley Funeral Home. Rev. Harold Blankenship and Rev. Terry Richardson will officiate. Vocal selections will be provided by Dean & Ginger Wilson and Allan Foster. The family will receive friends from 6:00 P.M. until service time Friday, February 13, 2004, at Valley Funeral Home and other times at the residence. Graveside services and interment will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, February 14, 2004, at Evergreen Cemetery. Myrtle Elizabeth Bragg Higginbotham (1920-2005) WV/TN
Funeral services for Myrtle Elizabeth Bragg Higginbotham, age 84, of Camden, Tenn., formerly of West Virginia, were held on Friday, January 21, 2005 at 11:00 a.m. at Tryee Funeral Home in Oak Hill, W.Va., with Pastor Randy Sounderland officiating. Burial was in Blue Ridge Memorial Garden. Local arrangements were made by Stockdale-Malin Funeral Home.
Pallbearers who served were her grandsons.
Mrs. Higginbotham passed away Monday, January 17, at her residence in Camden. She was born on July 7, 1920 in Fayette County, W.Va., to the late James Buchanon Bragg and Sarah Elizabeth Fox Bragg. She was a homemaker, a member of Red Star Baptist Church in Red Star, W.Va., and a member of Eastern Star in Oak Hill.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Arnett Baker Higginbotham, who passed away March 17, 1988; four sisters and four brothers.
Survivors include four daughters, Sarah Rose Higginbotham Harris, of Camden, Margie Uldine Higginbotham Sykes, of Dutton, Va., Zella Irene Higginbotham Halstead, of Belleville, Ill., and Cynthia Delphane Higginbotham Barker, of Ghent, W. Va.; two sons, Nathan Warren Higginbotham and Arnett Bragg Higginbotham, both of Chesterfield, Va.; two sisters, Carolee Lorenza and Uldine Presser, both of Pittsburg, Ca.; 12 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

Etta (Frances) Higgenbottom passed away on March 29, 2005 after a long and courageous battle with cancer. A faithful wife and devoted Christian mother all her adult life, she leaves behind a wonderful legacy of love for her children and grandchildren.

She was able to spend the last ten months of her life in the loving care of Fred and Idella Higgenbottom who received the incredibly precious gifts of; sharing her last Christmas, having the time to travel with her and visit some of the touch stones of her life, attending her physical needs and the indescribable joy of walking down memory lane together. Words fail to express the significance and importance that her life imparted to all who knew and loved her.

She was the daughter of the late Rev. Fred Lee and Dora Bradshaw formerly of Plant City, Florida who both preceded her in death. In addition she was preceded in death by her younger brother, Fred Thomas Bradshaw who passed away on July 3, 1993.

She was married for more than 56 years to Hayden W. Higgenbottom, who passed away on November 22, 2007. At the time of her death she left behind two cherished sisters and brother-in-laws, Mattie (Jack) Carr of Plant City, Florida and Jeannie (Rev. Lonnie) Buser of West Palm Beach, Florida, two brothers and sister-in-laws, Roy Lee (Frances) Bradshaw and, Arthur Ray (Mayzie) Bradshaw of Florida. She's survived by her three sons and daughter-in-laws, Fred Higgenbottom (Idella) of Fletcher, N.C., Robert Higgenbottom (Vicki), of Mount Carmel, Tennessee and Richard Higgenbottom (Lisa), of Santa Rosa, California and grandchildren Wesley Higgenbottom (Denise), residing in Elkhart, Indiana, Catherine Davidson, residing in Las Cruces, New Mexico, Teri Higgenbottom Hardeman (Trent) and David Higgenbottom, who reside in central California.

Her memorial/funeral service was held in the chapel of Hunter Funeral Home on April 2, 2005 and conducted by the Reverend’s Joseph Carson Whiteaker of Cookeville, Tennessee and her brother-in-law the Rev. Lonnie Buser of West Palm Beach Florida. Burial followed in the Highland Cemetery of Sparta, Tennessee.

Don L. Higginbotham, 74, 408 Elm Lane, Johnson City died Saturday, December 31, 2005 at his residence.
Mr. Higginbotham was a native of Erwin and had lived in Johnson City since 1953. He was a son of the late Jefferson Bane and Ethel Elizabeth Lloyd Higginbotham. He was a former employee of Smith-Higgins Wholesale Drug Co. Mr. Higginbotham was a member and former deacon of Harrison Christian Church.
He is preceded in death by: his parents; a son, Donald Joe Higginbotham in 2001; and three brothers, Kenneth, Harold and Bobby Higginbotham.
Survivors include: his wife, Betty Garland Higginbotham of the home; a son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Pam Higginbotham of Johnson City; three grandchildren, Amy Kuntz and Christopher Higginbotham, both of Johnson City and Brandy Curd of Piney Flats; a brother and sister-in-law, Bane and Gladys Higginbotham of Erwin.
A memorial service for Don L. Higginbotham will be conducted Tuesday, January 3, 2006 in the Morris-Baker North Chapel. Pastor Milton Mathers and Rev. Doug Hinshaw will officiate. The family will receive friends in the funeral chapel from 6 to 8 PM Tuesday prior to the service.

ERWIN — Mrs. Dot Higginbotham, age 65, 930 Hoback St., Erwin, died Wednesday, February 1, 2006, at her residence.
She was a lifelong resident of Unicoi County and a daughter of the late Roy and Ola Lance Parker. Mrs. Higginbotham was a homemaker. She was of the Christian faith. Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Bob Higginbotham, in 1983; and a sister, Ann Parker.

Mary Frances Laws, age 83 of Greeneville, passed away Friday morning at her home. She was a member of Stone Dam United Methodist Church. ELTON LEE HIGGINBOTHAM, 93, of Memphis passed away May 6, 2006 at Cordova Rehab. Retired from the City of Memphis he served in the United States Army and was a member of Leawood Baptist Church. Roger Lynn Higginbotham (1946-2007) TN
Roger Lynn Higginbotham, age 60, of 134 Witcher Avenue, Erwin, passed away Saturday, March 24, 2007, in the Johnson City Medical Center after an extended illness.
Born in Erwin, he was the son of Bane and Gladys Huskins Higginbotham. He retired in 1998 as a barber after 31 years as the owner and operator of Roger’s Barbershop. He was a member of Ninth Street Baptist Church.
Besides his parents, Roger leaves behind his wife, Faye King Higginbotham; one son, Roger Neil Higginbotham, Bel Aire, TX; two aunts, Betty Higginbotham, Johnson City, Irene Higginbotham, Erwin; three cousins, Tim Higginbotham, Erwin, Mike Higginbotham, Johnson City, Tammy Davis, Johnson City.
Graveside services will be held Tuesday, March 27, 2007, at two o’clock in Evergreen Cemetery. Reverend Doug Hinshaw will be officiating the service. HIGGINBOTHAM, Ralph Burger - McMinnville resident and Warren County native Ralph Burger Higginbotham, age 93, was born June 30, 1913 and died June 8, 2007 at Raintree Manor Nursing Home following an extended illness. A retired supervisor at Burroughs-Ross-Colville Company and a life-long member of the Methodist Church, he was the son of the late Robert Lee and Mary Della Massie Higginbotham. He was born and raised on the Higginbotham family farm in the McCollum Bend of the Collins River. He was a charter member of Moss Chapel Methodist Church and presently a member of Christ United Methodist Church. He was married December 5, 1936 to Nellie Ruth Goodwin who preceded him in death January 7, 2005. In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by one infant daughter and two infant sons; grandson, Michael Hennessee; son-in-law, Billy J. Hennessee; three brothers, Clarence, William and Harold Higginbotham and three sisters, Winnie Higginbotham, Florence Couch and Eva Mayfield. He is survived by two daughters and son-in-law, Sue Hennessee of Columbia, TN and Carolyn and David M. Jefferson Bane Higginbotham Jr. (1925-2007) TN
UNICOI — J.B. Higginbotham Jr., age 81, passed away Wednesday, June 20, 2007, at the Unicoi County Medical Center.
Born in Unicoi County, he was the son of the late Ethel Lloyd and Jefferson Bane Higginbotham Sr. J.B. worked for 36 years at Clinchfield Railroad, serving in many positions. He was a member of Winsome Sunday School Class at Calvary Baptist Church.
Besides his parents, he is preceded in death by his son, Roger Higginbotham; and his four brothers, Don Higginbotham, Harold Higginbotham, Kenneth Higginbotham and Bobby Higginbotham.
J.B. leaves behind his wife of 61 years, Gladys Huskins Higginbotham, Erwin; two sisters-in-law, Betty Higginbotham, Johnson City, Irene Higginbotham, Erwin; nephew, Michael Higginbotham and his wife, Pam, Johnson City; daughter-in-law, Faye Higginbotham, Erwin; and grandson, Neil Higginbotham, Houston.

Dorothy Hunt Higginbotham (1938-2007) TN
Dorothy H. Higginbotham, 69, of Eagleville, passed away on Aug. 5, 2007 at Middle Tennessee Medical Center.
She was a native of Sherwood, Tenn., but has lived in Rutherford County for most of her life. Dorothy retired from Alvin C. York Medical Center and was a member of the Midland Baptist Church.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents; Tommy and Annie Hunt. She is survived by her son, Jim Higginbotham of Shelbyville, daughters; Beth Underwood of Eagleville, Ruth Sherrill of Manchester, and Joanne Velez of Nashville, brothers; Anthony Hunt of Nashville, and James Hunt of Smyrna, sister, Eva Walker of N.J., and eight grandchildren.

Hayden W. Higgenbottom, 84, passed away on November 24, 2007 in Jackson, Tennessee after being in poor health for several years. He was born on September 17, 1923 to Charles and Prilla Wallace Higgenbottom of Sparta, Tennessee. He was a veteran of World War II who enlisted on May 11, 1942 and served until November 3, 1945 in the United States Navy. He was assigned to serve aboard the destroyer tender USS Dixie in the South Pacific.

He was a teacher serving many years in both Indiana and Tennessee school systems and was both teacher and principal for the Cassville, Elementary school located in White County Tennessee. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 56 years Etta Frances Higgenbottom, two sisters Betty Ruth Hood of Kokomo, Indiana, Juanita H. Rogers of Kokomo, Indiana, a half sister, Magdalene Brock of Sparta and three brothers Eli Hickenbottom, Edward Hickenbottom and Hurley Hickenbottom.

Survivors include his three sons and daughter-in-laws, Fred and Idella Higgenbottom of Fletcher, NC, Robert and Vicky Higgenbottom of Mount Carmel, Tennessee and Richard and Lisa Higgenbottom of Santa Rosa, California. He's also survived by his four grandchildren Fred (Wesley) Higgenbottom II and his wife Denise of Elkhart, Indiana, Cathy F. Davidson and her husband Davis of Las Cruces, NM, David Higgenbottom and Teri Higgenbottom of Santa Rosa, California as well as one great-daughter Zoey Davidson of Las Cruces, NM. He is also survived by two sisters Alvilda Green and Clara Selby of Sparta, Tennessee and a brother James Davis (JD) Higgenbottom of Houston, Texas.

Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. in the chapel of Hunter Funeral Home in Sparta, Tennessee with full military honors and subsequent burial in Highland Cemetery of Sparta, Tennessee.

Marguerite Francis Higginbotham (1922-2008) TN

Marguerite Higginbotham died Wednesday July 9, 2008 from natural causes at her home. She was a caring, accomplished woman of substance beloved by many. Those that call her friend are innumerable. Those that were loved by her will remember her presence in their lives with gratitude. A lover of poetry, Mrs. Higginbotham lived a remarkable life marked by a generosity of spirit, an insightful intellect and a love for her children. She possessed a constant faith and abiding love. She was a member of Mullins United Methodist Church. She is survived by her children Karen Francis of Memphis and David Francis of Los Angeles; her grandchildren Ken Francis and Ben and Sarah Helfinstein; her great grandchildren Abigail and Cooper Francis; her sister Betty Morgan of Macon, Georgia and her niece Joann Merrill of Memphis. She was pre-deceased by husbands, Ben Francis and Carl Higginbotham and two sons, Kenneth and Benjamin Francis. Jim Higginbotham, 43, of Midland Community, passed away Thursday, Sept. 11, 2008 at Heritage Medical Center. He was born to the late James Fullerton and Dorothy Higginbotham. He was a motorcycle mechanic with Classic Custom Cycle. Jim was an avid motorcycle rider and was in the Dart League in Murfreesboro. Jim is survived by his sisters, Joanne Velez of Nashville, Ruth Sherrill of Manchester and Beth Underwood of Eagleville; nephews, Justin, Nathan, Brandon, Hampton, Fisher and Tommy; nieces, Abby and Samantha. Frances Elizabeth Higginbotham Battles of Clifton, TN was born June 20, 1926 in Birmingham, Alabama, the daughter of the late Henry Higginbotham and Lillian Price Higginbotham House. She was united in marriage to Elmer Battles on February 23, 1941and he preceded her in death on September 18, 1981. Mrs. Battles was a homemaker and of the Baptist faith. She had lived on Chigger Ridge Road in Brookwood, AL before moving to Clifton, TN. Mrs. Battles departed this life on Monday, August 3, 2009 at Wayne County Nursing Home in Waynesboro, Tennessee at the age of 83 Years, 1 Month, 14 Days. Karen Anderson Higginbotham, 51, of East Brainerd, TN a woman of great faith and character died peacefully Wednesday, September 8, 2010 at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was a member of Northshore Fellowship Presbyterian Church and all who knew her would agree that she lived worthy of the gospel of Christ. We are thankful for her shining example of courage and contentment in life and death. Karen was an incredible hostess and a friend to everyone she met. She enjoyed hiking, traveling, dancing and giving of her time for others such as planting flowers in their yard. She especially loved daisies. She enjoyed making cards with thoughtful notes to send to her friends. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her. She was preceded in death by her mother, Darleen Grayce Anderson and later her step mother, Aletha Jane Anderson. Survivors are her husband of 28 years, Bruce R. Higginbotham; two sons, Caleb and Jake all of Chattanooga; father, Roy C. Erman Louise Higginbotham Barkley, 80, passed away on April 8 at the Tennessee Veterans Nursing Home in Murfreesboro, Tenn. Erman was born in Birmingham on Sept. 7, 1930. She attended Pensacola High School and Toccoa Falls Christian College in Georgia. She became a window dresser in Augusta, Ga., where she met and married Jon B. Barkley in 1951. She and her husband Jon had their first son, Thomas T. II, in 1952 in Huntsville. Shortly after, they moved to Detroit, where Jon worked in the steel mills and Erman became a cake decorator through the Wilton Cake Decorating School. Erman had her second son, Jon B. Jr. in 1954. The family then moved back to Huntsville and Jon went to work for NASA, Erman went to work first for Brown, then Sperry Rand and finally Boeing as an illustrator. Erman had her third child, Susan E. in 1958. Erman was an accomplished artist that dabbled in various mediums. She has painted and decorated cakes for her church, her friends and her family. In 1981 Erman decided to become a nurse and started nursing school at Calhoun Technical College. After graduation she became an LPN and went to work at Huntsville Hospital. She joined the West Huntsville Baptist Church and was always inspired to go and be with her church family. She went to Israel, the trip of a lifetime, with her church family and spoke of it often. She is survived by her sisters, Frances of Cocoa Beach, Fla., Patricia of Pensacola, Fla., and Phyllis of Denver; her children, Thomas and his wife Jackie of Murfreesboro, Jon B. Barkley Jr. of Decatur and Susan E. Barkley and her husband Kim M. Burnham of Essex Junction, Vt. She is also survived by three grandchildren their spouses and five great-grandchildren. Erman has donated her body to the Vanderbilt School of Medicine so there will be a memorial service at the West Huntsville Baptist Church on Saturday at 11 a.m. The family requests that in lieu of flowers donation be made to the West Huntsville Baptist Church in Erman's name.

Marie Horton, 87, went home May 12, 2011. She died from complications of COPD. Marie was born in Enterprise, Mississippi, to Kyle and Pearl Higginbotham. She retired after 28 years working in the Courtesy booth at Pic Pac. She was a member of Cherry Road Baptist Church. Marie was preceded in death by her husband Tommy D. Horton and her son Richard Horton. She leaves one son, Robert Horton and one daughter, Jean Clayton and her husband, Joe; two granddaughters, Jennifer Lowe and her husband David of Memphis and Angela Harrington. In her younger days, she loved to paint, sew, embroider, knit and crochet. Her hands were never idle and her heart was full of love. Charles M. "Bunk" Higginbotham, 77 of Ardmore, Tennessee died on Thursday, May 24, 2012, at Lincoln Care Center in Fayetteville, Tennessee. Born Monday, October 22, 1934 in Athens, Alabama, he was the son of the late D.M. Higginbotham and the late Willie Mae McDonald Higginbotham. He was a lifelong resident of the Ardmore area. He served as a Deacon for over 30 years and was a member of Elkton Baptist Church. He enjoyed fishing, cattle farming, and spending time with his family. Lived in Prendergast-Delano, Etowah, Memphis, Louisville, KY, and Knoxville. She was a graduate of the University of Michigan (B.A.), and the University of Tennessee (M.S.), a member of Zeta Tau Alpha sorority, and a member of the Episcopal Church of the Good Samaritan. Preceded in death by husband William S. Foster III; brothers Richard Allen Higginbotham (Augusta) and John Mearl Higginbotham (Leona). Survived by sons William S. Foster IV, John Henry Foster, James Stephen Foster (Carmen); and three generations of nieces and nephews descended from the branches of the Higginbotham and Napier family trees. Mom taught junior high in Memphis and Louisville, KY and taught English at the University of Tennessee. She was an avid reader, a loyal guardian of Tiger, the family cat, and a devoted fan of Lady Vols basketball, good tennis, and good grammar. Dorothy J. Higginbotham, 84, of McMinnville died Saturday, Jan. 19, at Cookeville Regional Medical Center after an extended illness. She was born in Chattanooga on July 12, 1928, a daughter of the late Rosa Lee (Wiseman) and Hershell Gibbs. She was a homemaker and a member of Mt. Leo Church of Christ. Lockie Mae Higginbottom Mitchell was born February 1, 1913 in McNairy County, TN the daughter of the late French Emmet and Dora Mae Isbell Higginbottom. She was united in marriage to Ward Mitchell on July 10, 1933. Mr. Mitchell preceded her in death on July 10, 1980 following 47 years of marriage. Mrs. Mitchell was a graduate of Selmer High School. She was formerly employed in retail sales for more than 20 years, and was a member of the Selmer First Christian Church. Mrs. Mitchell departed this life on March 21, 2013 in Selmer, Tennessee at the age of 100 Years, 1 Month, 20 Days. She is survived by three sons: Robert D. (Bobby) Mitchell and wife Tommye, Wayne D. (Doug) Mitchell and wife Barbara J., and Joe F. McMinnville resident and Warren County, TN native Juanita Higginbotham Medley, age 92, was born September 12, 1920 and died March 29, 2013. A retired sales clerk and buyer for J.C. Penney Co. and a member of the Church of Christ, she was the daughter of the late James Edward and Carrie Alice Dodson Johnson. She was married to Drury Higginbotham who preceded her in death in 1979, and Charley Medley who preceded her in death in 1996. In addition to her husbands and parents, she was preceded in death by two daughters, Peggy Keith and Barbara Joyce Fuston; one son, Art "Butch" Higginbotham; one brother, Louis Johnson; and one sister, Margie Pearsall. She is survived by son-in-law, James G. McMEEN, Mrs. Helen Higginbotham Age 88 of Franklin, TN, June 17, 2013 Born in Monticello, KY, lived most of her life in Spring Hill, before retiring near Franklin. Graduated from Spring Hill High School and attended David Lipscomb College. She was a member of the Beech Grove Church of Christ. She was a loving sister, wife, mother, mother-in-law and grandmother. Grover Louis Higginbotham, age 88, of Memphis, Tennessee passed away Sunday, June 8, 2014, at St. Francis Hospital. He was born August 17, 1925, in Meehan Junction, Mississippi, to the late Monroe and Pearl Higginbotham. He proudly served in the United States Marine Corps during World War II in several campaigns and earned a Purple Heart during action in Okinawa. He made his home with his family in Memphis, Tennessee, in 1952 and retired from the United States Postal Service after 30+ years of service. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Earl Higginbotham, Bennie Higginbotham, Marvin Higginbotham, and one sister, Mary Lee Quiteriano. He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Mable Agnes Wheeler Higginbotham; four sons, Louis Higginbotham and wife, Judy of Orange Park, FL; Bob Higginbotham and wife, Teresa of Olive Branch, MS; Larry Higginbotham of Southaven, MS; David Higginbotham and wife, Kathy of Bartlett, TN; one daughter, Lorie Higginbotham of Southaven, MS; two sisters, Elsie Moore of Gulfport, MS and Gloria Allen of Meehan, MS. He is also survived by 12 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather and will truly be missed but his spirit will always be with us. Mrs. Alvilda Hickenbottom Rogers Greene age 89 of Sparta passed away Saturday evening October 4, 2014 at Life Care Center of Sparta.

Mrs. Greene was born August 27, 1925 in White County to the late Charles Wesley & Prilla Wallace Hickenbottom. She was a former factory worker and White County Hospital Housekeeper. More importantly she was a loving mother and homemaker. She was a charter member of North Sparta Church of God and has left a Godly heritage for her family. In addition to her parents, she is also preceded in death by husbands Clinton Lee Rogers and Joe Frank Greene; daughter Donna Madden; three infant children; brothers and sisters Hayden Higgenbottom, Hurley Higgenbottom, J.D. Higgenbottom, Juanita Rogers, Betty Ruty Hood, Bonnie Roberts, Clara Selby and several half brothers and sisters.

Michael Patrick “Higgi” Higginbotham passed away November 18th, 2014 at the age of 33. A native Memphian, Michael was born on September 21st, 1981. Michael was a graduate of the University of Memphis, a graduate of Christian Brothers High School, and an employee of Medtronic. Helen Fay Higgenbottom age 84 a resident of Cleveland, Tennessee passed away Wednesday morning of December 24, 2014 in a local healthcare facility in Cleveland. Mrs. Higgenbottom was born March 26, 1930 to the late Jule and Gladys Muncey Daniel in Hamilton Ohio and was preceded in death by her loving husband of 59 years James Davis (JD)Higgenbottom. They were married on October 1, 1948 and he departed this life on Jan. 25, 2008. She was also preceded in death by a brother John Daniel.

Mrs. Higgenbottom was a faithful attendee of Westmore Church of God in Cleveland, Tennessee and a member of the Tomball Church of God in Tomball Texas under the ministry of Pastor Rodney Cundiff. She was a longtime church pianist from age 18 until age 80 starting in Columbia Parkway Church of God in Cincinnati. Her and her family would also sing together, and she was a youth leader in several different churches. She graduated High School from Lee Academy in Cleveland TN., which is now Lee University. She was a loving mother, an adoring grandmother and a great grandmother. But most importantly she was always steadfast in her faith in Christ since receiving salvation through her Lord and savior at an early age.

Margie Cole Higginbotham, age 95 of Nashville, passed away Sunday, June 4, 2017 at Hillcrest Healthcare in Ashland City.

She was born May 24, 1922 in Franklin County to the late William Richard Cole and Maggie Prince Cole. She was a homemaker and a member of Bethel United Methodist Church since she was a young child. Margie was a fantastic seamstress who also enjoyed quilting, crocheting and knitting. She was a member of the home demonstration club and loved to work word search puzzles, gardening flowers and vegetables and was active in the church activities.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, George Higginbotham; siblings, Ralph Cole, Cleo Huffer, Wilma Boswell, Gladys Cole, Lynn Cole and Roy Cole.

Exercised 3 days per week for 12 years at Fort Sanders West Cardiac Rehab Center, an inspiration to her exercise friends. Her charm and wit were enjoyed by the "Bookettes" and "Birthday Gals." Christine and Virginia Spivey Coleman, both "Girls of the Atomic City," gave presentations about their Manhattan Project experiences, have oral history interviews at Oak Ridge Public Library, and flew to Washington, DC as guests of Honor Air to visit war memorials. Mrs. Mary Ellen Roberts age 75 of McMinnville, TN, died Tuesday, February 06, 2018, at her residence. She was born December 08, 1942, in Warren County, TN, and was a retired employee of Oster Corporation. She was preceded in death by parents William Henry and Rilda Jane Lamb Higginbotham and a sister Eva Jean Keathley.

Survivors include her husband Jerry Conley Roberts, son Jonathan Conley Roberts, step-daughter Tina Roberts, sisters Betty Higginbotham, Jenny Higginbotham, and Brenda (Solan) Hayes, and a brother Bill (Nancy) Higginbotham. Nieces, nephews, family members, and friends also survive.

Graveside service and interment will be at 1:00 P.M., Friday, February 09, 2018, in the New Union Cemetery @ Hwy. 30. Bro. Don Haston will officiate. Mable Agnes Wheeler Higginbotham (1932 - 2018) MS/TN

Mable Agnes Wheeler Higginbotham, 85, of Memphis, TN, passed away peacefully Monday, February 19, 2018, at Kirby Pines Estates in Memphis. She was born May 1, 1932, in Enondale, Mississippi, to the late Elvin Lieutenant "E.L." Wheeler, Sr. and Eunice Lunsford Wheeler. She made her lifelong home with her husband, the late Grover L. Higginbotham, and her family in Memphis, Tennessee, in 1952 and retired from Sears after many years of dedicated employment. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 62 years, Grover L. Higginbotham; one brother, Jarman Leo "J.L." Wheeler; and three sisters, Berta Hathcock, Eleanor Vanhoy and Velma Moncrief.

She is survived by one brother, Elvin L. Wheeler, Jr. of Macon, Georgia; two sisters: Ruth Noland of Brandon, Mississippi and Dorothy Craven of Ramseur, North Carolina; four sons: Louis Higginbotham and wife, Judy of Orange Park, Florida; Bob Higginbotham and wife, Teresa of Olive Branch, Mississippi; Larry Higginbotham of Southaven, Mississippi; David Higginbotham and wife, Kathy of Bartlett, Tennessee; one daughter, Lorie Higginbotham of Olive Branch, Mississippi; 12 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great grandchild and numerous nieces, nephews, and in-laws.

She was a dedicated, loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother. She loved her church and her faith ran deep. Her precious smile, infectious laugh, and her beautiful singing will truly be missed but her spirit will always live within us through the rest of our lives. Heaven has gained another Angel.

Herbert Lyle Higginbotham, 101, died Monday, May 28, 2018 at his home in Knoxville, TN. He was retired from General Electric and a member of Cedar Creek Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife, the former Ruth Hicks; son, Danny Higginbotham; grandchildren, David and Evan Higginbotham; and great granddaughter, Emilee Mae Higginbotham. Frances Willetta Higginbotham Myers passed away on Tuesday, June 19, 2018. A Riceville native, she loved her family and lived an exciting, amazing life. During World War II, she worked at Oak Ridge and helped build the atomic bomb. She went to beauty school and opened her own business, The Riceville Beauty Shop. After she sold her business, she worked and then retired from Duracell. At age 89, she finally retired after working 25 years for Knoxville Tours. She loved to travel, making 114 trips to Branson, Mo., and visiting 49 states. On her 100th trip to Branson, the mayor gave her the "Key to the City." She was the oldest member of Riceville Church of Christ. She was most proud of being a great-great-grandmother of five generations, all who dearly loved her. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles William Myers; her mother, Annie Lockmiller Higginbotham; father, William Henry Higginbotham; two sisters, Ruth Ann Higginbotham and Miriam Jean Higginbotham; and son-in-law, Kenny Price. She is survived by daughters, Jane Myers Price and Sonya Myers Hamby and husband, Larry, all of Riceville; grandchildren, Kelly Price Blevins and husband, Mickey, of Riceville, James Rodney Price of Riceville, and Julia Ann Price Letner and husband, Brian, of Decatur; great-grandchildren, Leighann Blevins Giles and husband, Josh, of Englewood, Katie Blevins Brewster and husband, Cameron, of Riceville, and Brent Maddron and wife, Katie, of Decatur; and great-great grandchildren, Landyn Giles and Adleigh Giles of Englewood, and Annslee and Acelynn Maddron of Decatur. Betty Sims Harrelson, 86, died on July 21, 2018, at home. She was born in Madison, Ga., and was the daughter of Raymond Travis and Marjorie Rucker Higginbotham. She lived in Plymouth, N.C., Springhill, La., Vancouver, Wa., but lived the last 50 plus years in Hixson, where she was a member of Hixson Presbyterian Church and a former member of Red Bank Presbyterian Church. She was a former member of the Civic Arts League of Chattanooga. She held several secretarial positions, was an excellent seamstress, and a talented painter. Her paintings hang in numerous homes of relatives and friends across the U.S. She attended Augusta Jr. College, Valdosta State College, and the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Karen and Victor Dockery of Knoxville; son and daughter-in-law, Martin and Sandy Harrelson of Signal Mountain; daughter and son-in-law, Margie and Fred Watson of Dunlap; and daughter, Angie Rogers of Hixson; three grandchildren, Sam Harrelson, Madison Rogers, and Charley Watson; brother and sister-in-law, Travis and Palsy Higginbotham of Greenwood, S.C.; and several nieces and nephews. Hugh Oliver Higginbotham, Jr., passed away January 23, 2019. He was a veteran of the United States Army, a former teacher at St. Anne Highland and St. Michael Catholic Church as well as former principal at St. Anne Highland, where he was also a parishioner. Mr. Higginbotham taught at Christian Brothers High School, assisted Dr. Demere at Memphis State University and taught genealogy research at the main library in Memphis. He was preceded in death by his parents, Hugh Oliver Higginbotham, Sr. and Mary Sullender Higginbotham. He is survived by four sisters, Joy (Curtis) Maclin, Marilee Whitten, Ruby Dorris and Kathie Higginbotham; two brothers, Samuel Higginbotham and William (Susan) Higginbotham; seven nieces, nine nephews and a host of great-nieces, great-nephews; great-great nieces and great-great nephews. He was Godfather to all of them. The family will receive friends on Sunday January 27 from 2-4 p.m. at Memphis Funeral Home, 5599 Poplar Chapel, Memphis. Lynn Yeargin Higginbotham age 69, passed away on January 13, 2021.

She is preceded in death by her son, William Gene “Billy” Tarpley, brother, Randy Yeargin.

She is survived by her husband of 41 years, Jeff Higginbotham, daughter, Terri (Robert) Haviland, grandson, Cody (Samantha) Haviland, siblings, Diane (Gabe) Fisher, David (P.J.) Yeargin, Bruce (Linda) Yeargin and Martine Yeargin.

Lynn was a loving wife, mother and grandmother, who never met a stranger and loved to tell stories, especially about her husband Jeff. She also enjoyed traveling. One of her favorite places to visit was Yellowstone National Park. She enjoyed westerns and Hallmark movies. Lynn graduated with honors from Cohn High School. She inspired others every day to strive to be their best.

Betty Joyce Higginbotham, age 82, a McMinnville, TN resident and Warren County, TN native was born May 24, 1938 and died May 13, 2021 at St. Thomas River Park Hospital following a brief illness. She was a retired inspector with Aqua Tech, a family caregiver, a member of New Union Methodist Church, and the daughter of the late William Henry and Rilda Jane Lamb Higginbotham. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Mary Roberts, and Eva Keathley. Ms. Higginbotham is survived by two sisters, Brenda Hayes, and Jenny Mae Higginbotham both of McMinnville, TN; brother and sister-in-law, Billy Wayne and Nancy Higginbotham of McMinnville, TN; and brother-in-law, Jerry Roberts of the Centertown Community. Several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews also survive. A graveside service and interment will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, May 16, 2021 at New Union Cemetery, Hwy. 30 in Warren County with Tim Lewis officiating. No visitation will be held at High’s. JOHNSON CITY - Ms. Betty Garland Higginbotham, 91, of Johnson City, passed away on Sunday, May 30, 2021, at Cornerstone Village North in Johnson City.
She was born in Mitchell County, North Carolina, a daughter of the late Rapha and Vadie Slagle Garland.
She was of the Baptist faith.
Betty is remembered for being a loving mother, doting grandmother, and adoring great grandmother. She enjoyed spending time with her family, especially cooking for them; nobody ever left her house hungry.
When she wasn’t in the kitchen, she could be found in the garden, tending her flowers or enjoying the outdoors. Betty was also known to have a talent for working with her hands and applied this to any craft she was given a chance at.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by: her husband, Donald Higginbotham, in 2005; one son, Donald Joseph Higginbotham; and three siblings, Burl Garland, Kenneth Garland, and Shirley Sneed.
Those surviving include: one son, Mike Higginbotham and wife Pam; grandchildren, Amy Kuntz and husband Mike, Chris Higginbotham, Brandy Miller and husband Jamie; great grandchildren, Malachi Higginbotham and Allie Miller; as well as several nieces and nephews.
The family of Betty Higginbotham will receive friends from 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM on Saturday, June 5, 2021, at Mountain View Baptist Church, 4005 Bristol Highway, Johnson City, TN 37601. McMinnville, TN resident and Warren County, TN native Nancy Carolyn Prater Higginbotham, age 80, was born September 2, 1941 and died December 30, 2021 at St. Thomas River Park Hospital following an extended illness.
A retired circulation clerk with the Southern Standard and a member of New Union United Methodist Church, she was the daughter of the late Charles L. and Pauline Neal Prater. She was married to her husband of 59 years, Billy Wayne Higginbotham on November 22, 1962. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by sister, Glyndia Dodson Bass and sisters-in-law Betty Higginbotham, Mary Ellen Roberts, and Eva (Carson) Keathley.
In addition to her husband, Mrs. Higginbotham is survived by daughter and son-in-law, Holly (Lane) Cantrell of McMinnville; grandchildren, Trey (Emma) Cantrell and Tucker Cantrell all of McMinnville; brother, Charles Timothy Prater of McMinnville; sisters-in-law Brenda Hayes and Jenny Higginbotham and several nieces and nephews.
Graveside service and interment will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, January 3, 2022 at New Union Cemetery on Highway 30 in Warren County with Michael Hale officiating. Glena Higginbotham Royse, age 90, passed away February 3, 2022, after a long battle with cancer. She was born in Monticello, Kentucky , the daughter of Charles Essie Higginbotham and Leona Jones Higginbotham. She moved to Franklin, Tennessee, when she was a year old and to Spring Hill, Tennessee, when she was four. She grew up there on the family farm with her parents and her two sisters, Helen and Eva. Glena graduated from Spring Hill High School and then attended David Lipscomb College for two years. She then became a Legal Secretary in Nashville and met her husband Lloyd Eugene Royse while working there. They were married on March 12, 1955 in Spring Hill and had two sons; Thomas Lloyd Royse and Robert Daniel Royse. She is survived by her sister Eva Higginbotham Hardison, of Columbia, Tennessee. Glena was a loving sister, wife, mother, grandmother of seven and great-grandmother of eight. She was a faithful member of the Beech Grove Church of Christ and will be missed by all who knew and loved her. A funeral service is scheduled for Saturday, February 12 at Spring Hill Memorial Park at 5239 Main Street in Spring Hill, Tennessee.

Mona Higginbotham, 66, of Jackson, formerly of Dyersburg, died Wednesday, May 4, 2022 at her residence. She was born June 14, 1955 to the Jimmy and Margaret Fossey. Mona was a former Special Education teacher at Dyer County High School, former real estate agent with Tennessee Realty and was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Jackson. Mona never met a stranger, helped those she could, and believed in everybody. Her love and kindness for children were always at the forefront throughout her life. Educator, real estate agent, family friend, supporter, believer, wife but always forever Mom.
Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m. Monday, May 9, 2022 in the Chapel of Curry Funeral Home officiated by Reverend Courtney Bowen with interment to follow in New Concord Baptist Church Cemetery in Kenton.

Helen Virginia Miller, age 97, of Smyrna, TN, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, June 25, 2022. A native of Cedar Grove, WV, she was the daughter of the late George A. and Allie R. Higginbotham. She was also preceded in death by her husband, William Miller; three sisters, Sadie Estep, Arlene Smith, and Pauline Joachim; one brother, Bill Higginbotham; and one great-grandchild.
She is survived by her son, Larry Miller and his wife Diana of Smyrna, TN; three grandchildren, Gidget Renee Miller, William Todd Miller and Marjorie Helen West; nine great-grandchildren; and seven great great-grandchildren; sisters, Opal Hunley, Carolyn Slater, and Charlotte Perry; and brothers, Harold G. Higginbotham and Gary W. Higginbotham.
Mrs. Miller was a member of the Church of the Nazarene in Huntington, WV. She was an amazing cook and she loved to do needle work. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

McMinnville resident and Warren County native Jenny Mae Higginbotham, age 74, was born December 6, 1947 and died December 3, 2022 at NHC Healthcare McMinnville following an extended illness.
Jenny was the daughter of the late William and Rilda Lamb Higginbotham. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three sisters and brother-in-law, Eva Jean and Carson Keathley, Mary Ellen Roberts and Betty Joyce Higginbotham; sister-in-law, Nancy Prater Higginbotham; brother-in-law, Solon Hayes and nephew, Carson Keathley, Jr.
She is survived by brother, Billy Wayne Higginbotham of McMinnville; sister, Brenda Hayes of McMinnville; several nieces and nephews; brother-in-law, Jerry Roberts of McMinnville and caretaker, Betty Lee of McMinnville.

Kathleen Keifer Higinbotham (1945-2023) WV/TN

Former Paden City resident, Kathleen Keifer Higinbotham, 77, of Clarksville, TN passed away on Tuesday, January 3, 2023.
Kathleen was born in New Martinsville, WV to parents George Otis and Wanda Guthrie Keifer.
A graduate of both Paden City High School and West Virginia University, she worked diligently as a staff member for U.S. Congressman and later Tennessee Governor Don Sundquist during his terms in office, and afterwards for FEMA until her retirement.
Amaster gardener, Kathleen was passionate about all of her hobbies and interests including music, art, cooking, and following the Mountaineers.
She was a Protestant by faith.
Kathleen is survived by her children Leslie (Matt) Hafner of Nashville, TN, Guthrie Higinbotham of St. Louis, MO, twin grandsons Clayton and Mason Higinbotham of St. Louis, sister Margaret (Larry) Sine of Paden City, sister-in-law Susan Keifer of Summerville, SC, and several nieces and nephews whom she adored.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, George Keifer.
Private services are being held with the family in Nashville. A memorial service/celebration of life will be held at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church in Paden City on Saturday, January14, at 1:00PM.

She was born July 7, 1952, in Knoxville, Tennessee, to her parents, Riley and Ana Clark. While growing up in coastal Virginia, she met and married her husband, William Gragg Higginbotham, Sr. on September 19, 1970, and they celebrated 52 years together.
With their move to Memphis, Susan excelled in her role of wife and mother and was a dedicated, founding member of the Catholic Church of the Nativity. She also helped grow the Cursillo Movement for the Catholic Diocese of Memphis. She owned and operated the popular Higgi's Deli on Union Extended, not only providing hot food for workers in the surrounding buildings but also a comforting presence as a listener to her customers.
She is survived by her loving husband, Gragg, and her beloved children: Dawn; Gragg, Jr and his wife, Beringaria; Nathan and his wife, Pamela; and Michael and his wife, Heather. She is also survived by her adoring grandchildren: Bronwyn, Gwynneth, Liam, April, Seth, Spencer, Bella, Sammie, Jarred, Abby, Jude, and Christian; and her sisters, Carmen and Kathie. She was preceded in death by her parents and a grandchild, Victoria.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 am, Wednesday, May 3, at the Catholic Church of the Nativity, with the visitation beginning at 9 am at the church. Private burial will follow the mass.
A reception for family and friends will take place after the internment in Stelling Hall at the Catholic Church of the Nativity.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Catholic Church of the Nativity or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, and LeBonheur Children's Hospital.

Elaine Higginbotham Brown (1955-2023) SC/TN
July 6, 1955 ~ September 22, 2023 (age 68)
Elaine Brown, age 68, born in Williamston, South Carolina to JD and Ethel Lawton Higginbotham, had lived the last 2 years with her youngest son in Oakland, Tennessee. She passed away surrounded by her family on September 22, 2023.
She is survived by her two sons, Steven (Leann) Brown of Brighton, Tennessee and Luke (Kristine) Brown of Oakland, Tennessee, her best friend and longtime partner, Danny McLaughlin of Oakland, Tennessee, grandchildren, Justyn (April), Triston, Courtney, Ryun, Aaliyah and Caitlin, great-granddaughter, Rowan, sister, Patricia Carnahan and brother, Ricky Higginbotham, both of South Carolina, with many loving nieces, nephews and extended family.
If you knew Elaine, you knew she had love for collecting Barbies, Elvis memorabilia, jewelry, DVD movies. She would stay busy with working puzzles, scratch offs and crafts. You also knew never to call her Frankie "ha-ha" nor to fight her over her food. She was a meat lover, and loved those special occasions to Red Lobster or outing to Captain D's.
Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday October 7, 2023 with visitation at 11 A.M. and services at 12 noon at Beaver Baptist Church, 9344 Holly Grove Road, Brighton, Tennessee 38011.

Faye Hocutt Higginbotham (1942-2023) MS/TN
June 2, 1942 - October 18, 2023
Faye Higginbotham, a compassionate and kind-hearted soul, passed away on October 18, 2023 at the age of 81. She was born on June 2, 1942 in Lexington, MS to Mary Abels and Gid Hocutt. Faye was the youngest among her siblings, Peggy and Nancy. Sadly, both Peggy and Nancy have also departed from this world.
Throughout her life, Camella embraced motherhood with grace and dedication. She raised two wonderful children, Lynn (Debra) Higginbotham and Melissa Watson. Faye's parenting style was characterized by fairness and responsiveness, ensuring that her children grew up loved and supported.
Faye experienced immense joy as a grandmother. She was blessed with six grandchildren: Morgan, Courtney, Dustin, Holly, Jacob, Logan, as well as three great grandchildren; Paxton, Saylor, and Jonah. Her affectionate presence and positive spirit made her a beloved figure in their lives.
Her best qualities shone brightly through every interaction she had with others. Compassionate to the core, Faye always extended a helping hand to those in need. Her kindness knew no bounds as she consistently showed empathy towards others' struggles. Above all else, she maintained an unwaveringly positive outlook on life that inspired those around her.
For many years, Faye dedicated herself to serving Metro Schools as part of the Metro Food Services team. Her work ethic and commitment were unwavering as she played an essential role in ensuring students received nourishment each day.
Faye's faith brought immense comfort and strength to her throughout her life. She was a devout Baptist who found solace in the teachings of her religion.
As we bid farewell to Faye Higginbotham, we remember her for the love she shared unconditionally and the positive impact she made on countless lives. May she find eternal peace in the embrace of the heavens above.
Rest in peace, dear Faye. You will forever be cherished and deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing you.

Velda Lois Crowe, age 82 of Harriman, formerly of Rockwood, passed away on Sunday, October 22, 2023, at the Roane Medical Center in Harriman. She was born on December 23, 1940, in Belmont, Mississippi. She was a loving mother, sister, and grandmother. She loved her son dearly. She loved to help people and had a truly amazing heart. She is preceded in death by her parents: Chester Paul Higginbottom & Lela Gertrude Higginbottom; husband: George "Buddy" Crowe; daughter: Terri Stevenson; and brother: Thomas "Gene" Higginbottom. She is survived by: Son: Brad Crowe, Tommy Crowe Sister: Theola Barnard Brother: James Higginbottom Brother-in-law: Bobby Crowe Grandson: Chris French Friend: Tracy Cantrell and several other nieces, nephews, and other extended family members The family will receive friends on Friday, October 27, 2023, from 5:00-7:00 pm ET at Evans Mortuary in Rockwood. A memorial service will follow at 7:00 pm ET. A private interment will be held at a later date. Evans Mortuary is serving the family of Mrs. Velda Lois Crowe.

Janice Keller passed away on January 15, 2024 at age 73. Janice Kay Keller was born in Robinson IL to Lena Louise Sanders and Donald Daniel Higginbotham. She worked as and Insurance Adjuster. Her free time was spent with her grandchildren, watching the Houston Astros, and playing card games online.
Ms. Keller is survived by her son Dustin (Becca) Keller; grandchildren: Dustin Jr, Annabelle, Charlie, James, and Alex Keller; great-grandchildren; siblings: Donna Jones and Tony Higginbotham; sisters-in-law: Sheila and Darla; special nephew Todd Jones and many beloved nieces and nephews; and family friend: Mike Williams. She is preceded in death by her parents and brother Bob Higginbotham.

October 14, 1942 – March 26, 2024 Theola Dean Barnard, age 81 of Kingston passed away peacefully in her sleep on Tuesday March 26, 2024 at her home. She was born in Belmont, Mississippi on October 14th, 1942. She was preceded in death by her parents Chester Paul Higginbottom & Lela Gertrude Christman Free, her Brother Gene Higginbottom, sister Velda Crowe, former husband Herbert Barnard, and Granddaughter Shayla Denise Haese. She will be sadly missed by her brother, James Higginbottom and wife Nancy. Her daughter, LaDonna Meyer and husband Harry; son, Tommy Barnard and Elizabeth Rose; Grandson, Cody Barnard; Great-Granddaughters, Lana Haese and Lyla Royster (Dad, Brad Royster); nephew Brad Crowe and special friends; Scherel Castleman, Cynthia Higginbottom and Missy Scandyln. She worked much of her life in the textile manufacturing industry and was a proud union member and enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. Receiving of friends will be held on Monday April 1st at Kyker Funeral Home in Harriman from 5-6 pm, with a "Celebration of Life" service at 6 pm.
