Vera, born in Carolina on Nov. 14, 1918, to parents Fred and Margaret Shaeffer Higginbotham, had a long, interesting life. She attended Monongah High School. She and George adopted two dogs, Little One and Scar, which brought much joy into their lives. Vera had resided at the Wishing Well (now Tygart Center) in Fairmont since 2006. Her husband passed away in January of 2003. She has three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren, Richanne, (Mike), Erica; David, (Barb), Devon, John; and Mark, (Martelia), Alex and Zack.
